Does anyone else own a 98ish Civic 3dr 1.5 LSi vtec (SOHC)? I think the model is 96-00.

I've pretty much worked out what the engine is, but does anyone know how much (approx) bhp/torque gain there would be modifying by chip/zorst/induction kit?

My biggest bug bear with this car is slowing down on long motorway hills. p!sses me right off. of course around the country lanes it'd be nice to get some more overtaking juice.

Honda's are quite expensive to extract more power, asp the Type R's, but it can be done...

Putting a turbo on is probably the best way forward,or nos.

They arent easy to extract more power out of,at least not compared to a turbo car.

the best thing to do first is get a DOHC b16a engine ones around 92-94 are 170bhp i think.then get a type r head,uprated manifold and plemium should set you back around 1500 inc engine and then get manigement to bring it all together and then obviously Nitros Oxcide and if you still need more a turbo

seen banzai this month, supercharger / turbo hybrid thing, they run cool so etc and can put the type S (one down from the R??) to 260bhp!

 

procharger 'standalone centrifugal supercharger, belt driven off the crank' blah blah 'up to 30 psi of boost', blah blah '9psi only 25 deg C warmer than stock intake manifold temp'..... 'guarantees minimum power increase of 50 - 86%' sounds the way forward.

Is it the 1.5 lsi, if it is not much you can really do with it, better off finding a b16a, b16b, b18c.

If anyone says by bolting exhaust and filter will boost the power they are talking crap.

Either sell it and by the vti with the b16a or engine swap, you are really up against it with that engine. Sorry

Fosters engine is cheap,well sort after for conversions in minis (classics)and kit cars.

I know a few people have converted their civics into 2.2vtechs (from a prelude),but it would be much wiser to just get a Civic VTi with B16 a engine.

 

Supercharger is the way forward, speak to Guy at CPL Racing in Sheerness.

 

Have a look at MOD4ME Its a mate of mine who tunes Civics, turbo kits, ECU's, one off exhausts etc.

My brother has a JDM SiRII B16a VTEC (170BHP) engine in his mini with a DTA and after a lot of research the most cost effective way to increase the power was with a Supercharger. The Vortech Supercharger seems to be the one to go for and their website is http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/

For £3000 you can get an increase of 117BHP on a stock engine!

 

It's running perfectly, as you would expect from a 14 year old Honda!

I'm just waiting to get the wedding out of the way, and I will look at either turbo'ing my current CRX or move up to a DC2 Integra Type R.

 

The Prelude lump is to heavy and wil mess up the handling IMHO.
