Think he must have a problem either with the car or his driving. Exige has an 1.8/4 cyl engine putting out 192Bhp/146Lbs and weighs only 780Kgs which gives it a power to weight ratio of 247Bhp/ton. This gives it a 0-60 of 4.6secs and top speed of 136mph. Is not as quick at higher speeds due to low torque but great on a track and looks the part.

I'd rather have an Exige than a P1. The Exige is basically a road version of the Racing Elise that Lotus developed a few years ago.

It was something like £35k when it came out so not very popular. You can pick them up for the price of a new Scooby now...

Driven properly, an Exige would surely "have" any Subaru!!!

I recently didn't have 3rd gear and a dodgy 4th, got beaten by an RS turbo Escort when I tried to go for it as he was getting on my nerves. I bet he is on a forum now saying that Subarus aren't all that fast. The same may go for this Exige, he may have been on his way to the garage to get fixed, you never know. Lovely looking car, wish I had one (As well as the Scoob mind you).

sideways is fun, not fast.

If the exige had a decent driver in, and he tried to go fast, you wouldn't have seen him for dust.

I've heard the Exige has a small battery that requires changing often. This means it's back to Lotus and body off just to get the battery out.

Bill = £1000+ for a new battery. No thanks, I'll keep my Impreza.

I had an exige for a little while and they are feckin quick especially round a track, 0-60 around the 4.6 mark im not saying ur scoob didnt give it go! Got my sti7 now and im pleased at least bits dont drop off of it, windows had a tendency to not wind down, a wing mirror just decided 2 fly off one day and other days it just didnt want 2 start, plugs oil up nicely 2! But u certainly get looks in it and it flys round a track!

In theory the Exige should beat most scoobs - but these things are really track cars, i.e. they're a handful on the road and not really comparable to the Scoob. It would take a brave driver to push it through roundabouts and the like as they're pretty unpredictable. They are noisy, need to be driven all the time (i.e. you never get to relax in it) and bloody uncomfortable.

I had an Elise that was much slower than my N reg subaru a few years ago, even though on paper it was supposed to be faster.

LOTUS= Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious.

The Elise was the worst car I've ever owned (good to hear they still haven't sorted the windows dropping or the random mechanical and build problems!).

Wouldn't mind a go in the Exige on a track, though

Jase, if the opportunity arises take it, I would and do.

As to the exige ,.. Great track car, but as a road car not sure, drove one last year at the palmer sport place in Bedford wasn't too bad, this year drove the VX220 Turbo at the same place much much better car and very very quick.

As to the negative teeth suckers out there .... if you don't like it don't read it.

Cool

I found the Exige to be an astonishing road car. The way it can be so supple and provide roll-free handling was astonishing. On really bumpy roads it can lose it a little - but I mean really bumpy.

On a twisty road I would have expected a well driven Exige to toast a Scoob, and around roundabouts so much less weight and far superior handling would also give the Exige the edge. The Scoob has fabulous grip but its handling is not a patch on the Exige.

Of course if it was wet - I would expect the road legal slicked Exige to have a few more problems as the Scoob will come into its own.

IMHO having driven both cars - I believe that an Exige would be quicker on roads up to 100mph with some handling required. Over a 100mph on the straight the Scoob would start to catch up

local tmo yes.. in the dry off a short burst of road to a roundabout all the way round third exit nasty camber onto fairly long stretch off road up to about just over a ton..slow left hander in to a nastish rounabout bearing right...another straight ish length of dual carriageway..
as for being a track car deffo..yes judging by noise..did get impression it was a "handfull" into the rounabout!!
if it was wet he would not have got near me..for certain..

have often thought about getting an exige. Had a play "against" one once in the 22B. I could stay with it but on a big roundabout it just went round like it was a go-kart but that was the only time it got away!

An exige will annihilate a scoob if the driver can drive. End of story. Modified scoob against modified exige (supercharger, anyone ) will be the same story.

It weighs **** all, has nearly 200bhp out the box and levels of grip which are shocking.

I've been lucky to be a passenger around Donington in an exige on a scoob day. Nothing was safe - the speed you can carry round corners is quite frankly breathtaking.

Lovely car

you have got to be kidding imho...
cost wise exige must be similar cost to sti8???????evo 8 or 22b?????or a p1 and a pile of cash??????
sorry but agree with comments made earlier..build issues with lotus..track car and not a good one at that??????(even disregarding alternatives above you could have plenty more track day motor for ya cash!!)
exige sounded good though( but still for me a scooby sounds better still!!)
personally if it was my cash a lotus would be pretty low down on the wanted list....j

A std scoob against a std exige in real world terms not much in it, on a track the exige would toast the scoob.

A TT exige is another matter with at least 230bhp of supercharged power, still these cars are really track weapons and judging them on a typical bumpy b road doesn't do them justice.

I feel a lot happier covering uneven surfaces in my scoob than my VX...but again different cars..but still with the emphasis on performance...both cars still good fun though.
