Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what size the door speakers are in an 03 wrx? And are the fronts doors different from the back doors? And finally has anyone fitted speakers in the back shelf, there are some holes there, but what speakers will fit?? Any help would be great, thanx :)

They're 6" up front, but the "issue" is the depth. You should be able to make a 12mm MDF collar and still fit the door cards. If you have speakers with a deep basket and monster magnet, you're looking at door builds really... This is what I've had done:

Rears in the door are 4", but will take most 5". You will again need to make a collar or be prepared to snip a little metal for most speakers to fit.
For the rear shelf, the cutouts are IIRC about 5", but you can remove the plates and fit something else directly in the hole, or 6x9s below the hole for a more stealthy approach.
Hope this helps somewhat.
Cheers,
Nick.

Thanx very much for that. All the information from one reply- obviously a expert ;-)
Thanx again

...or possibly a convincing bluffer. I'm sure about the fronts and rears, but the shelf is based on knowledge from the old shapes... I've got a 5 door, so can't check it either.
If someone else can check, it'd probably be useful. Either that, or I'll have to nip 'round to Rum*s just for a quick check. This may entail a test drive too :D

Do those sizes apply for the 02 as well?

Yes, they do, although for a MY02+ to fit 6x9's under the rear shelf you will need first to relocate what I believe is the aerial amplifier. It is currently located on a bracket very conveniently over the hole you would fix the speaker under.

Jocky,
that's some inductors for the heated rear screen by the look of it. Sorta black plastic case with a grille cut into it?
I thought it was the aerial amp until I found what the aerial amp is :D - in mine, it's in the headliner at the rear of the car.
Cheers,
Nick.

Thanks Nick - I didn't know that. Hopefully it won't matter where I relocate it to when I do mine properly.....!
cheers
