Thinking of an upgrade as the 19 is feeling its age, still goes well an has low milage fo rthe age, but a few niggles here and there are appearing and have got that gut feeling that something big could go bang.

What are the Xsara VTS's like? Id be after the last of the old shape, cant stand teh new lights and grill.

I knwo they are basically the citroen gti-6 with one less gear and not as good handling, but for my driving the handling doesnt really come into it.

Not sure if there will be much of a performance increase either, but what are the engines like for reliability? Any horror stories? I think they are abotu the same if not slower to 60, but isnt the mid range on these engines very good (the renault engine is not very torquey)?

Just a 306 GTi-6 in disguise, but minus a gear...

Fast, decent handling, cheap & under-rated!

Doubt it, I used to have a Citroen ZX volcane and hit a brick wall speaking to them "we only do peugeot" - but it's the same parts - "we've been asked to do other cars but we won't" - but it's PSA, not a Ford! - "we all own peugeot, we won't touch any other manufacturer" - I gave up at that point!

Xsara VTS, underated, a GTI-6 with a decent steering lock!

Wink

I went from an R19 16v to a GTI-6 back in 97, all i can say is do it (your insurance may go up a little but dont worry about that )

£3100 is a 'kin bargain. get your hands on it. much rarer and i reckon better looking than a 306.

I had a blue one for a month a few cars ago...

Great cars, nice handling and look good. I'd have one now as a second car if they were cheaper to insure.
