bigger shift light on sti7

hi guys
after fitting bigger shift light on my sti7, anyone done this?
after the large dash mounted type that sometime sit on the large rev counters, you know the ones.
can these be wired into the factory subaru one that is built in, is it easy just to use that wiring or will the current not be up to it????
advice req please
