Hi all,

Put a Tracker on my car last year to insure with Tesco.

Now gone with Bell Direct, who didnt even ask about the tracker, thus I assume they dont car about it.

So, do I shell out £100 quid?? when tracker renewal arrises? I can only see the insurers are to gain and not really me. would I want the car back if it had been robbed? probably not.

Any thoughts??

I think there are better products out there (Navtrack ?) but the real agro is the insurance claim. If you lose the car then chances are you lose money (and increase the premium even if protected).

Personal choice but I'm up in Sept and I'll probably change companies, but I still like having it as a deterrent (along with the Diplock, Rotweiller, Cilla Black CD etc.)

For the sake of a hundred quid I would! you've had the major expense of buying and installation of the kit already.

A hundreds the cost of a night out.. forego one and pay Tracker

 

Frizzell don't require Trackers. But you do have to be over 30.

 

I had this issue too - but I decided to pay up because it might avoid delays on claims if it was nicked & you could track it down, & anyway I think I would prefer my car back + some repairs than get 'market value' on a similar one. The other thing is now you've got it you might find next years cheapest quote wants it back on?? You pays yer money & takes yer choice.....

I guess having a tracker fitted is a selling bonus

 

If your insurance don't require it, and you don't save more than the price of the subscription. Get rid, would you want the car back after it has been battered and screwed everywhere by a bunch of scallys

 

Having had my 94 WRX stolen last year. I can vouch for the probems first hand.

Having to wait a mandatory 6 weeks with no hire car replacement (not offered with NU) only to find them offer 1k below book. A few letters and telephone conversations passed over a further 2 weeks and I got it up to just about book, with no regard for the bits I had done and the time I'd cherished on it.

The other bits in the car had to be dealt with through house contents.

All in all a major pain. Once I got the money, I then had to go through the whole buying 'rigmarole'.

With a decent tracker, there is a good chance you'll get it back before they can really do any damage. More than likely it will have been taken for a robbery anyway and will have been driven nice and safe back to a place where it will wait for the job in question.

Only the small minority get 'joy ridden' and damaged. Then I'd qustion wanting it back.

Put it this way, knowing what I know know, I'm buying a GOOD (better) Cat 1 alarm, 24 Hr tracker, Blackjax and steering wheel lock.
It may cost £500-£600 but that will be worth it to ensure that I don't walk back to my car park space only to see it empty, again.
