I currently do a spread sheet to work out my mpg (silly I know ;0 )
The last colum which gives me my MPG per tank but I want a field at the bottom to work out my average over every tankful !
The problem is that each time I fill up this field is altered
Please can someone tell me if there is a way that excel can count the number of fields & then divide the total amonts for the whole column by the number of rows !

I hope this makes sense
Cheers
Paul

You need to do:

=SUM(A1:A7)/COUNT(A1:A7)

Where A1-A7 contains your values.

=average(a1:a10)

where a1:a10 is your column that you want to average
