I hope noone here works at BMW, but to be honest I'm getting a little bored here.

That being the case, I shan't be able to wangle 20% discount on an M3.

Uhmmm, I'm a little disappointed with the rear space thing. I may have to rethink then. I still can't face the MY01.

Can't you get a 20+% discount by just getting it from Europe (hence bypassing BMW GB altogether).

The car park here is chock full of W and X reg coupes, convertibles, Xs, Zs, schnitzers. Most of 'em have 18" wheels and I'm getting a little tired of seeing them everyday, especially the ones that cut me up for no apparent reason.

The only BMWs I've stopped and looked at whilst I've been here are a mint M1 and Z1, oh and the X5 with sat nav, playstation and dvd in.

I'm set on getting a skyline for my next car and assumed that coz it's bigger than the 4dr scoob, it'll have more room inside.

Has anyone with 2 kids got a skyline who can comment on interior space? Is there as much space in the back as in the scoob?

Not the GTR I was in - far less space than a scoob - even a P1

Rear space is cramped.
If your kids are tall you're in trouble.
The boot space is a joke too.
No room for prams or subwoofers.
Best rear space to date is in the Evo VI.

20month waiting list for a new one!!!!
Skyline GTR becomes a very viable option when you add the cost of titanium interiors and 19inch alloys to the Beemer.

Fosters,

Have you considered a Legacy B4 RSK? All the Subaru benefits in a bigger package ....

Fosters,

Looked at Steve's boot space at Dono (R34 V-Spec). Basically the boot was tiny but quite deep. Something to do with the super-duper systems taking up a load of space.

Rear seat space didn't look huge either.

I say buy a Volvo estate and a Skyline, former for the kids and wife, the latter for yourself

Cheers

Ian

I've got to admit that given a choice I'd take a Skyline over pretty much everything.

I'd probably have to give a Porsche 911 turbo a go though (just being thorough)

Porsche 911 GT2 110k.
2nd hand 993 AWD 40-50k for a good one.
Skyline GTR 55k another 20k gets you BIG HP.
All practical[ish] Skyline more exclusive.
Last thing I want to do is spend 50k+ and see myself coming and going every time I drive the thing!

The skyline's the 2nd car me and the missus have agreed on, the 1st being the scoob - she's not liked any of the others.

Anyone bringing a skyline to the quays meet?

A 993 Carrera 4 can be bought from Porsche GB from £38,000+ (96/P 38,500 miles - £37,995)

A 993 Turbo (all have 4WD) can be bought from Porsche GB from £55,000+ (95/N 32,000 miles - £54,995)

A 996 Carrera 4 can be bought from Porsche GB from 52,000+ (98/S 22,000 miles - £51,995)

Which is official Skyline money.

But a Skyline is more exclusive and I'd prefer one to a 911....

The pictures of the coming R35 look fantastic.

Thumbs up

Cheers AWD.
The only problem with an official Skyline is I do not want to drive all the way to Middlehurst again to stand around like a buffoon waiting to take a vehicle out for a test drive
My other plan is to get permission to do a six month stint in Japan again and buy one while I'm out there [28k new!].
R35 will have no turbo's but a V8 and is currently under develpment in Australia.
I am under the impression the target market is the US and they want the Skyline to be a tourer.

Bajie

Ozzies do love their V8s.... I hope that Nissan also use the same bodyshell with a turbo for the rest of the world.

The Japanese plan sounds good - how will the family like it in Japan?

It'll be interesting for you to train with the Japanese though. I always wanted to see how they did martial arts in Japan.

I was in Japan in 1996 for six months.
I really wanted to do Kyokushinkai [oops] while I was there but the guys I worked with told me not too.
I found a couple of dojo's and understood why immediately. Everyone leaving the dojo was bruised and battered, teeth missing etc, no joke!
I finally found somewhere in Mikhal Honmoku where I was living and learned one of the local martial arts. It was extreme. It was summer so really hot and humid and the training was aerobic and very physical. At the end of every session the black belts had to "spar" with everyone else who turned up. Against 10kyu to 6thkyu you were only allowed to defend, after that you could practise your own techniques.
If I do go back it will take at least six months to get to the fitness levels I'll need!

Kyokashinkai You nutter!!

It is taken very seriously there - like a way of life for many.

That's what I like - a little intensity never hurt anyone .. hang on... bruises... pain.. yes it did...
