when you buy a new Uk car I belive the dealers fit a Sigma M30 cat 1 alarm.

does the alarm have a seperate keyfob or is it tied into the buttons on the key itself ??.

It used to be a separate fob with a single button. The key has two buttons on that used to operate the OEM alarm and central locking, these are disabled. My April 02 reg STi is like that.

I understand that the latest cars have a modification to the key so that the alarm and cl are worked from buttons on the key. My mates Sept 02 STi is like that.

There was a thread earlier that said you could pay to have the old system converted to the new system.
