Hi all

Im aware that you can buy some springs for the fugly that are about 165 squid. Now I thought they lowered the car, but the guy at the garage said they would only stiffen it, not lower it.

Is he right? I really wanted stiffer and lower,

The springs do lower the car by around 25mm (max).

There is also less roll in corners and the car turns in better when they have been fitted and the suspension geometry has been done.

My main dealer fitted mine for £90 plus vat (That included the Prodrive geometry settings)

Mine cost me aroound £180+VAT in labour for the springs and geometry

This was the cheapest quote I got in the Basingstoke/Reading area, so dealer pricing is consistent :D

I got Eibachs fitted for my MY02 at TSL, can't remember how much, prob. about £300 including laser alignment? The 'new' Eibachs for the MY02 (this was the first set they had fitted apart from Graham's car which has 18' wheels anyway) deffo sit lower than than the previous generation Eibachs - ie. MORE than 25mm. The car looks good but more to the point handles amazingly, v.little body roll and a sharp turn in. I can't comment on Prodrives, but Eibachs are well worth it!!

I've got the Prodrive springs fitted to my GX, they've improved the handling but not effected the ride too much... Word of warning, make sure a price is agreed up front for fitting by the dealer - as Cheam charged me £295 to fit and do the geo on my MY'01 WRX last year, that didn't include the cost of the springs! :eek: images/smilies/mad.gif

I drove Graham's car @ TSL, and the '02 Eibach seems to me, to be a much better solution than the Prodrive springs, it *feels* a lot stiffer/tighter, but has around the same ride comfort (maybe a little less). The only downside is the potential lack of waranty on the dampers after fitment.

I like the prodrive springs because they have sorted what I didn't like about the car initially - stability under breaking from *cough* 70mph, body roll and general looks of the car.

If I was going to use the car on track, I'd go for the Eibachs and 18"s... but for the mileage I do (lots), I'm happy with the Prodrive and 17" (TSL/Team Dynamic ProRace One wheels).

FYI - I think the TSL price in circa £370 including VAT for springs, fitting and laser allignment.

DrEvil was that your car I saw at TSL about three weeks ago - with left rear wheel facing in a funny direction???

If it was I wanted to ask you about that cool spoiler you had fitted - is that the Rallytech one from drmotorsport? Looked the business in WRBlue.

Dave - nope, not mine, I now have a MY'02 GX Wagon (blue-black) - you may have seen it up @ TSL, I was up there on a Thursday a couple of weeks back.

FTR - I'm getting the MY'02 Eibach kit fitted to my GX in the very near future @ TSL. Because I want the car to be stiffer than the it is with the Prodrive springs. (I change my mind a lot :rolleyes: ).

They do lower the car yes,but they aren't as stiff as the Eibachs from what I've read.I have the Prodrive springs/geometry settings on my MY01 and the difference in handling is unbelievable.There's no great loss in ride comfort either and it makes the car sit that little bit lower (-25mm as the man says!!)and if you're lucky enough to have 18 inch wheels then the car does look 'phatter'
