Question

While I'm pacing up and down the livingroom waiting for my new WRX I was wondering if the standard 'Thatcham Class 1' alarm is good enough?

I'm not in a crime 'black spot' but am in London every day so wondered if a tracker system is really needed? I've broken the bank to get this car so need to make sure I keep it, but I'm now skint...

Cheers!

:-)

Wink

Get yourself a Disklok to start with (nice visable deterrant) then add a tracking system and an Anti Hijack System, apart from that there isnt much more you could do (except keep it in a garage?)

2nd that. A Disklok is a must. The visual deterent thing is essential to stop amatuers having a go, and inevitably causing cosmetic damage at the very least.

A Thatcham cat 1 will help with the insurance, and a tracking device may help (reduce premiums, therefore pay for itself) even more. Anti hijack is an very reassuring device to have, but may conflict with Thatcham approval, so be careful.

A couple more things.

Does the car come with a cat 1 alarm? If not, then do some homework before you buy. They're not all the same. Same goes for installers.

You might not be in a crime 'black spot', but that means nothing to me. Car crime can happen ANYWHERE. Don't assume you're at less risk than anyone else. Take the necessary precautions, it's worth it.

Finally, it's worth the wait. You will enjoy your new motor.

No, unless you're very wealthy, which doesn't sound like the case. Costco is the best place for the Disklok.

It's the standard 'fit' Thatcham class 1 alarm.

With my miles that's very true. If I need to go down to places like Elephant and Castle (for example - have had cars broken in to there before etc) I borrow the missis R reg Sport!

Friday is a long wait! Thanks!

By the way.I have such an insight into the mind of thieves being a Traffic Bobby that i have my car fitted with a Texalarm Cat 1 alarm/8 point immobiliser,Tracker Monitor and a disclock.I put the Disklock on even if i go into a shop for a paper.Try and make it almost impossible for them.
