Unhappy

Having just partX my 5dr MY99 scoob (OEM xcept SO2s) I am not happy with the handling of the new car (OEM ie 225/45R17 RE040s) compared to the old. The new car is very twitchy on repaired surfaces (particularly trenches parallel to the edge of the road) whereas the previous car had no such problem. Is this a recognised problem and, if so, what can I do about it. I presume RE040 are OEM on the STiUK. What tyres are fitted to Japanese STis as standard?

I too have just changed a MY99 wagon for a STi.

The STi does have a tendency to follow grooves etc in the road, the wagon did too to some extent.

I do not find it a problem though, just a quirk of this car, maybe tyre size has something to do with it ?

Red face

My standard (well before i upgraded to 17's) MY00 (4 door) also tramlined with the OEM tyres on, a change of tyre or upgrading to the 18's is probably a good move (which you will no doubt do in the end anyway )

My STi 7 does the same and the bloody torque steer in the wet
Good job I used to own a chipped RS turbo
Spoke to someone at TSL and they said its a geometry problem with the STi's they are all over the place apparently.
TSL or Powerstation can align this all for you. Not sure what it costs as I haven't had mine done yet.
TSL reckon they have done about 30 customers cars already.

Tyre pressures seem tyo help I'm running 32-34 all round
seems to help.
