grooved disc rotational direction?

is it possible to run with your discs the other way round, so that the leading edge of the groove hits the inside of the pad first instead of the outside, so cutting down on pad wear etc.
i've seen it done with big brake conversions but not with a straight swap discs, are the discs handed and therfore impossible to swap sides (i.e. vents on top of the discs going the wrong way etc.)

You can swap some of the more simple discs around, the bigger discs like AP discs have curved vanes to drag air in from the hub like a fan and blow it out at the disc edges.
These should only be fitted one way.

wasn't sure about the pad wear bit, not got that sort of money for AP's so that won't be a problem
