On the M62 yesterday heading towards the hill over the Pennines, towards Leeds, and behind a TVR travelling at around 80. He of course had been in the outside "fast car" lane for around 5 miles (light traffic on the motorway) and eventually moved over to lane 3 of 4 - Maybe he just likes the 3rd lane?

Anyway I wanted to go slightly faster, so tried to overtake him. As soon as I got alongside he floored it upto around 120, left me standing, although I did'nt try as I only wanted to go a bit faster. Of course I clapped as he pulled ahead of me and back into the 4th lane, real clever driving mate, congratulations.

What I want to know is, are all TVR drivers this crap at driving, or was he just a small minority of TVR driving D*ckheads?

I did of course "overtake" him later (It would have been rude not to!), when the traffic was heavier and he was still in lane 3 and he followed a few hundred metres back, still travelling at 80-85.

Any one else had similar experiences with this bunch of muppets?

BMW drivers, TVR drivers, yes you are probably correct, all drivers except Subaru drivers are crap, inconsiderate, think the own the road etc etc etc.

FFS, one bad driver in a TVR does not make them all the same, I followed a **** in an Impreza on thursday and he remained in the outside lane for 12 miles until he needed to turn off, despite the fact i was behind him and there was a big gap in front - So does that make us all ***** - GET A LIFE !

Generally TVR drivers are pretty considerate...they are very much enthusiasts (have to be, really )
I have seen a far higher % of scoobies driven badly/inconsiderately

It must be that the general standard of driving in the UK is very poor.

Having driven many thousands of miles in continental Europe, the difference in driver discipline is markedly better there than here. It is very rare in France or Germany, for instance, that you see drivers use the outer lane for anything other than overtaking. In this country it is very rare for car drivers to use the inside lanes at all, other than having to cross them to get off the motorway!!! LOL

Guess we British are just an arrogant bunch of crap drivers, apologies to all TVR drivers, you were probably just as bad when you had your Ford Orion 1600i, all those years ago.

I would agree that the standard of motorway, autostrada, whatever is better in Europe, but in the parts of the US I have driven they just do not bother abnout overtaking lanes, they just pass either side. Maybe that would suit british drivers.

Cool

All I'll say about TVR drivers, having followed a fair few in dodgy conditions, is that they must be adrenalin junkies with ***** the size of coconuts

TVR drivers in general are pretty good, you have to be - as someone above mentioned. Im sorry that you have come across this minority, there are bad drivers in every sort of car. I must admit I have seen a minority of scooby's all over the place trying thier luck with ours, which can get annoying, especially when they are right up your **** despite you not going any faster than the speed limit etc. We had one that kept on the bootlid for an hour before he caught on that we werent going to race him. On the other hand, most scoobys are considerate and tend to give us the thumbs up at traffic lights etc.

DJ

you just didn't like it because he demonstrated the power and performance of his car which was far greater than yours, you were simply envious.

As if you've never done the same thing to a hapless hot hatch.....

The sh!te drivers in this country p!ss me off.
DON'T JUST DRIVE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OR RIGHT HAND LANE.

You can be driving down the motorway and the middle and righthand are full of **** and the inside lane is clear.
THICKO'S
I've just started going up the inside, I know two wrongs don't make a right, it's only a matter of time before I get nicked.

see ya

Cool

I use the inside lane all the time..... it's the best way to overtake (no-one else seems to want to use it )

I guess it's hangback to my biking days. when I used to pull up behind someone .... indicate right... maybe a mini coutesy flash (lights you pervs if they havn't clocked you in their mirror ..... count to 10 then up the inside ...

Nowadays I just stick to the inside lane - just as fast

Callum

yeah too right.... i hate roadhogs that stay in the fasts lane whatever... completely oblivious to what is behind. If the police nicked the bast*R*S then maybe they wouldnt keep doing it....

... but undertaking is just as bad... in fact worse, especially in a scoob becuase not only is it dangerous (ie lorry pulling in), but it makes all enthusiasts look bad... and you'll be the one nicked.. not the ****'ead who is still convoying in the fast lane.

Sorry, but feel I have to Justify my actions:

I only undertake when I know it's clear for me to do so. Lifesaver's the lot. Never seen a lorry change lane in less than 5 seconds and their lane position shows the manouvre way before the indicator comes on.... (plus the body roll etc...)

I've been doing the same for yeaaaars - almost always in SE England where drivers are always "observant" and "courteous" (yeauhurightyouare)
Never been pulled for it. Probably because everyone suddnly becomes Mr. or Mrs. IAM when the filth's cruisin in the vacinity

... but undertaking is just as bad... in fact worse
I agree that it is "technically illegal", but then I'm a bigger believer in driving progressivly down the road. I will NOT get in the way of someone that wants past and will not ride the bumber to force someone into moving. It only adds stress and makes the driver in front a bit panicky (except in SE England where they don't use their mirrors )

Acksherly, undertaking is not technically illegal. The only way you can be prosecuted for it is under driving without due care or dangerous driving.

The only time undertaking is legal in when you are in a flow of traffic where the inside lane is travelling quicker than the overtaking lane (e.g. in a traffic jam or controlled slow traffic situations)

Anything else is a sick parrot (illeagle )

Callum

Unless the've changed the rules of the road since I took my test

Very true, but there is no explicit law against undertaking. It was discussed on the UK Traffic Law list a while back, and several traffic officers confirmed that the undertaking itself is not specifically illegal. However, 95 times out of 100 you will be prosecuted for driving without due care, or dangerous driving, if you're caught undertaking.

I'm only being pedantic, really.

Just wait until the day you do that in your Sierra and a lorry pulls out to overtake just as you're doing your illegal manouver. BANG!

You'll have to upgrade to a focus then
