I have just got a 1996 WRX which I’m lovin every moment of. One thing though, the ABS light keeps coming on and staying on until I turn the car off. As I have no manual I cant tell if this is normal or not. Anybody have the same problem?

Try taking out the bottom of the back seat. On both sides near the back are connectors to the rear wheel sensors. The normal problem is they come appart.

mine was doing this... got to the point where I was killing the ign whilst driving...

I had a look at mine but didnt find anthing as it went away... check the wires from all wheel sensors carefully paying close attention to where they are clamped or go through grommets as any shorts will cause this problem.. also try cleaning the connector as mentioned.

Let me know what you find.

You could also have a dodgy ABS sensor?

Question

Not sure
id expect them to be as it would be cheaper to produce one part for all rather than 2 seperate parts.
You could go looking around scrap yards if it is?

AFIK there are very few Imprezas on the IOW! Even less in local scrap yards...

I don't know a lot about Imprezas yet, but have been an enthusiastic amateur for about 5 months now. Would you like a second pair of eyes looking at the problem? Email me if you do...

No problem - it's always good to meet like minded people on the island. Need to fight the speed limit lowering.

Sounds to me, it could be the relay, had the same problem on our 94wrx, abs light came on and when we turned off the ignition then back on again it stayed off. Just kept doing this on and off. Noticed a buzzing noise from the front of the engine bay(left), took off the cover and it was the relay that was "fizzing", Just gave it a clean and haven't had a problem since(2yrs ago) Check it out the next time the abs light comes on, and see if it's "fizzing".
