Just looking at the dyno runs on the front page of Scoobynet, surprised to see that a standard old shape UK turbo only makes 140 ish bhp at the wheels.

My aged golf GTI made 101.8 at the wheels the other day (have the power plot to prove), I know the 4wd saps a lot of power, I just didnt realise how much. Coupled with the fact a Scoob weights what about 1300 kilos (Golf under 1000)?

Theres not as much in it (on bare figures) as I would expect, do you calculate power to weight on the flywheel figure or the at wheels figure.

I am not under any delusions that my Golf is as quick as a Scoob but I was surprised by the figures. Will I be dissapointed when I finally buy one unless its modded ?

T5 goes on the rollers next month, Saxo Boy if your reading this, have you had your VTS on a rolling road, I would love to see what its making to do a 15.3 pass! !

***BOOM*** and I'm off.....

No I've not had it on the RR, I can't say I'm not tempted but I really cannot be bothered to spend the money - I'm scottish - to find out how much power my standard car has. I know it's over 120 easily but it's doubtful that it would be over 130. I've thought long and hard about my times and maybe my driving helped. I'm damn good at launching the VTS and frankly brutally quick through the gears. Good/bad driving could gain or loose a half second easily.

I've had the same scooby power at the wheels thought before. I'd bet if you worked out power at the wheels for a UK turbo and the VTS and then power at the wheels to weight they would be about the same. In theory then you'd think they would accelerate at about the same rate but the scooby's quicker so it can't be as simple as that. Things like the CTR would murder the scooby on that sort of paper test but it again isn't quite as fast. There still must be something to be said for raw grunt at the fly.

*** Wasn't too bad was is

Wink

My Fiesta RST got 102bhp at the wheels Std and after chipping got 130bhp at the wheels.

Dunno how accurate that is - its supposed to be 133bhp std at the flywheel - its certainly a lot faster though!

Oh and it supposedly weighs 913kg
