Default big brake kits

ok, I'm looking at upgrading the brakes on my 450bhp 2005 STI and really dont know what to do.

do I go with D2 355mm fronts and 330mm rears OR

go with cosworth/AP 355mm fronts and just get some decent rotors and pads for the rear (and refurb them painted black)

not sure if spending 1k on the rears is worthwhile...??

AP option upfront imho, my buddy only got the AP 4 pots on his type R with performance friction discs and it really stops!

Also known a few others who have made the change and have said it's like night and day!

Also the people running d2 etc will say they are better than stock brembo caliper, can't say I've been in a car running them but if budget allows I'd buy the AP

I'd personally run stock rears as said with upgraded discs and pads.

Hi there

Really depends on budget, for front as above Craig said,AP with 355mm discs should be awesome combo, add good pads, stay away from EBC and you should be OK

D2 8pots are good alternative and seems are better than old style, pads shape is very similar to the AP,then pads choices are great

Upgrading rear, depends, have tried friend RA,he running front 355mm AP and at rear he running OE 2pots(not Brembo) and not sure,I would upgrade rear callipers at rear on his

On our wagon we run K-Sport 8pots 356mm and at rear we run K-Sport 6pots 330mm discs and we are loved our brakes, with right pads you shouldn't have any issue

Thanks,Jura

And think about doing the brake-bias mod to make the rears do more work.

not that there is anything wrong with AP making them lol..they make a lot of brakes for a lot of big OEMs.

The only part of the power station kit that's made by AP are the discs , the bells and brackets are made by someone local to power station , the calipers are made by Brembo
