Default Whats Best AP4 pots OR Brembo's

As the title suggests, just wondering which ones people thought are the better brakes out of the two.

Didn't know there were different types of AP 4 pot calipers, what are the different types?

My new 54 wrx has AP 4 pot with standard diameter discs but 2 part bell and rotor and thicker from godspeed.

330mm is possible fit under 17" WRX wheels,K-sport 330mm i've seen fitted under 17" WRX wheels and not sure but they're looking like 330mm

Here is your pic of wheels and AP

So is it correct that the front callipers on Newage WRXs are 4 pots, as are the Brembos on STi?

Yes new age wrx are 4 pot but obviously not as good as brembo, which are a bigger caliper and disc.

you could always go or the godspeed i think brake kit with bigger discs but has a bracket to space the caliper out some, the brembo setup is heavy

I've had k sport 8 pots and the gold newage brembos. It's the brembos for me. Had ago in big arfs car with the 4 pot AP'S and felt pretty much the same as the brembos. The most part of the braking system is down to the discs and pads. Brembos with peformance friction discs and pads bite much harder than 8 pots with ferodo ds2500's. Undoubtedbly the AP's are good but I think the higher price tag relies on people being brand snobs. Good yes - £1000 better ???

Subaru 4-pots are iron, but the brembos are alloy which is why they have issue with stripped threads on over-tightened mounting nuts.

For the price the brembo is a good set-up but similar k-sport set-ups aren't much more new. There are others worth considering too - stoptech are good value and reliable brakes

Thats exactly what i was wondering, the car i've bought has the godspeed AP 4pots and not having driven it i wanted a bench mark for the brakes, obviously the AP 6 pots are the daddies, but i do like the fact that the 4pots go behind the standard wheels, so no problems when it comes to running winter tyres.

It's all down to disc an pads.
I drove a scoob in timeattack in 2009 with ap 4 pots and they were very poor, over shot a few corners. I also drove another scoob in timeattack in 2010 with brembos with carbon disc and carbonne lorrane rc6 race pads, which were the best brake system for track I have ever experienced. This package had no problem locking the wheels up at 140+ with sticky track tyres.
I have seen the alloy calipers warp with heat. Not seen this with brembo tho, as been stated before are heavy, small price to pay imo

They are not really a grand more though, the lad that put them on this car needed to refirbish his calipers and buy new discs and pads, which costs the best part of £400, so he opted for the AP 4 pots with 2 piece discs and pads @ £1100.00 and sold his old ones for £350.

So in effect got upgraded to AP's for an extra £350 which i think is bloody good going for arguably the best brakes around, but it was 2 years ago so you won't be able to do that now

Can't comment on the AP's!

But on the RB, standard STi Brembo's with HEL braided lines, Performance Friction 2 piece front discs, with PF Z rated pads all round.
The Brembo PF set-up seems pretty good!

Just a shame that PF don't do a rear disc for the STi....

The same setup i have on my Bug, IMO it performs better than my old Ksport calipers with DS2500's i had on my RA.
