My brakes are crap. I've had the car since october and since then the brakes went really crap. So much i nearly crashed a few times. Was going for a break check but wanted to ask for advice as car isn't with me at present. The car stops but with distance. Is it just the pads as i hear a grind sound like wheels skidding in wet.

 

Check your not down to the backing plate of pads (ie there is still pad material) and you dont have a deep rust lip on the outer of the discs.
