Dyney's 2 pot rear caliper/bracket fitiing instructions
This is for the guys that bought the brackets to allow the 2 pot rear disc and calipers from the MY01 WRX to be fitted to the pre99 classics
Right guys.
Hopefully you have the brackets in front of you and one of the old calipers off. The brackets are not handed but beware the calipers are!!
Clean the mounting surfaces to make sure they are flat and clean.
I used some thread lock on the new bolts for added security. Clean the bolts of the protective oil first if you use thread lock.
I suggest you fit it all to make sure there are no problems and then take one bolt out at a time to apply the thread lock.
You will need to remove the old stone guard as it’s too small for the new disk and may foul the caliper.
Look carefully and you should see 7 spot-welds. Drill these out, a ¼ inch drill should do. You only need to go through the guard!! Not the back plate!!!
Once you have the stone guard off file any rough bits smooth and repaint the bare metal (it will stop it rusting).
Right now to fitting the brackets.
You may have to open the gap in front of the back plate slightly. I just used a big screwdriver to give me a few mm more clearance
As you can see from the pics the widest part of the bracket fits to the hub where the original caliper bolted on. For this use the short bolts. They have a finer thread (M10x 1) for added strength in the aluminium brackets.
The bolt fits from the back, through the back plate and into the bracket.
Fit the disc making sure the hub surface and the inside face of the disc is clean and flat.
Now fit the caliper to the bracket.
Make sure you have the caliper with the bleed nipple at the top!!!!
Remove the old shims on the caliper mounting point. Round flat discs with 2 legs that grip the caliper. (If you haven’t got these don’t worry your only going to throw them away)
The mounting lugs should fit in the small cut outs in the bracket.
If you have a wear indicator tab on the pad it needs to be on the front pad or it will foul the bracket!!
Bolt them on from the back, through the bracket into the caliper using the longer bolts.
Take the brake line off the old calipers and install on the new calipers and bleed the system through the new calipers.
Before road testing the new brakes please make sure they work by pumping the pedal before you move off!!
Take it gently for the first few miles until the pads and discs have bedded in.

Simple, all the later cars already have the larger discs and 2 pot callipers. Either Subaru or Brembo.
I'm not fussed too much but am curious now. Were 2-pot rears deffo fitted to the late 'UK' Classics or perhaps just the JDMs..? Search time...

All new age cars have the 2 pots.

Basically the JDM cars with DCCD from version 4 had the 2 pot rears (R180 rear diff).

I know the pre 97 cars all had sigle pot rears. As you have found after that it gets confusing!! I'm sure I have seen MY00 UK cars with 2 pot rears
If you have the single pot rear calipers then this bracket will alowyou to fit the 2 pots

It's not just 'DCCD' cars that got them. I think it was cars without ABS. Though I think those with DCCD didn't get ABS anyway

Are you noticing any changes in braking performance?
Does the car feel grabby at the rear? Is the pedal more solid and is the pedal length about the same. I am assuming that you have kept the standard uk classic brake master cylinder. Have you noticed the ABS cutting in more often.
Just interested as I have a set of 2 pots lying around and need motivating to fit them

Post 97 cars all have ABS as standard fit.... unless they have DCCD which could not be run with ABS (which is why the P1 has ABS and sliding rear calipers and not DCCD and 2 pot rears like the STiV Type R it's based on).

Post 97 cars all have ABS as standard fit.... unless they have DCCD which could not be run with ABS (which is why the P1 has ABS and sliding rear calipers and not DCCD and 2 pot rears like the STiV Type R it's based on).
I have seen a MY99 WRX v-ltd without DCCD and that had the sliders on the rear, don't think it had ABS (as I said very

I haven't had a chance to push it hard yet, but there were no surprises at SSO when I was hauling on the anchors at 110mph after the end of the qtr mile or at over 140mph at the end of the top speed straight
The pedal feels the same as before, no grabing or ABS cutting in.
Not sure what pads are on the rear. Will be upgrading them to DS2500 now it is all fitted and run in.

Superb bracket mon amie! 
Was telling a friend about them... but do you have a solution to the front brakes for a 4 pot upgrade? Or do the 4 pots as on new ages just fit straight onto the front of the classics??

The 4 pots on the new age (Subaru items and not Brembo's) are the same as those fitted to later classics. They bolt directly to the hubs on all classics without any need for brackets. The only time you need brackets is when fitting Godspeed kits for example. So if you have 2 pots they are a direct swop, with discs of course. (Backing plate may need removing?)
