Unhappy Brake Squeal.

I've recently upgraded my brakes on my 98 car.
I'm running ex WRC Magnesium Cailpers, with Prodrive discs and Pads.

(have got the part numbers somewhere for the pads, will post them)

Thing is, after 5-10 mins use, the sqeauling is terrible, gets really bad just as the car stops.

Sounds like a number 12 bus !!

Is there anything i can do ? Or is it just the compound of the pads, and i'll have to live with it ??

Thanks
Johnny

yes indeedy - to BOTH questions - I use ferodo ds2500s on the front, and have never had this issue - so I'll be switching to those on the rear too I guess - bit of a waste of good pads, but I won't be able to put up with the noise once I've got the window open all summer !

I have break squeal using Ferodo's on my big brake kit. Apparently using copperslip can stop the noise? Someone else suggested putting the plate shims back on if you don't have any. haven't tried these yet.

I've taken them off and re-fitted, having 'sparkly' cleaned the caliper and shims, with copper grease, but they still do it !

These make a noise even when I'm just rolling along, with no brakes on...

Johnny, reckon you're right about the waste - I'm not one to put up with stuff for the sake of a few quid !

Thats a bugger if they make a noise all the time.

Mine are fine when they're hot, and fine when cold, it's just that inbetween period.
