Default Brake judder while breaking hard......

...on my scoob. I have a MY00 classic with standard brakes on my 16" rims. Only judders when i brake hard from high speed. Would i be needing new pads?
If i do what would you recommend as replacement pads?

many thanks...smurfy.

New Discs!

But no need to pay Subaru prices!

Cool

surely if it was warped disc's you would feel it under all braking and not just hard braking from high speed, you must remember that the ABS can do this from high speeds into hard braking...

I had the same problem - judder only braking from 70+. The rear discs had to be replaced.

yeh....this is only happening when i brake hard from 80mph +.
So it would seem i need to get my disks looked at?

...maybe i'll just get the whole lot looked at.

Has anyone on here just upgraded there pads and gone for braided lines while keeping standard Subaru disks on 16" wheels? Does it make any improvement?

It could be uneven pad deposits on the discs. trying do some bigger, harder stops 100mph+ -> 5mph and see if it clears. Don't stop completely or rest your foot on the brakes as it'll cause hot-spots.

The only way to know if the discs are trully warped is to have them measured.

Probably just brake fade. Does it brake ok then the juddering kicks in as the heat builds?

Brakepad deposit is most likely indeed. Discs don't warp that easely , however uneven deposits on the disc occur often and quickly , e.g. after high speed stops and leaving foot on the pedal. It is difficult to remove though.... just keep on braking 'normally' for a couple of thousand miles and it should dissappear ... With fitting new discs the problem could come back the very next day if you want ...... ..

Even better is to have it checked (confirmed ) by a brake-expert like...well who fills me in here ?
