Question

These have just been mentioned to me, and 'apparently' a few Scooby drivers have been putting them on recently.
Is anyone using them that can give an assesment on performance as they are supposedly very good and are certainly decently priced.

Vredestein have announced the launch of their second "designer" tyre developed in co-operation with Italian car designer Giugaro Design. The Ultrac is a W Rated ultra high performance tyre aimed at the top end of the market and is available in 12 sizes ranging from 45 to 35 series aspect ratios.

The design of the Ultrac has been inspired by the current liking by tyre designer for bio-design, the design of tread patterns which draw inspiration from nature. The tread pattern of the Ultrac resembles the shape of a leaf with rounded shapes, flowing contour and inclined corners.

A further feature of the tyre is what Vredestein calls Ultimate Handling Construction (UHC), a combination of a special sidewall and bead construction, which provides extra sidewall stiffness, and a special bead construction. The result is exceptional handling on wet and dry roads.

Vredestein has also been able to achieve particularly low noise levels with the Ultrac through the Centre Shift System (CSS) found in the middle of the tyre, whereby the right and left tread parts are shifted in relation to the centre section.

Finally, Full Silica Silan Solution is used in the tread compound to provide high levels of grip on wet roads as well as reduced hysteresis, resulting in lower rolling resistance.
