Question

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile in upgrading my front brakes on my MY98 to MY99/00 4 pots?

Could I get the 4 pots from a Subaru breakers? Would these be expensive? Also would these be OK with my wheels (17" Kahns).

Are there any better options for upgrading the front brakes? I don't want to spend a small fortune in the process

Thanks

The Subaru 4 pots fit under 16inch alloys so you shouldnt have a problem there but i would suggest that you go for different pads and discs as the original items are cr@p.

There's always a better way... - going for expensive 6 pots for example

I got some Subaru 4 pots, discs and new pads for a good price, (all standard) and they have been a much better setup than the 2 pots. I'm using this setup as an interim solution - there's plenty of scope for the future. (much more than 2 pots)

It can be made better by going for different discs and pads, or a big brake conversion (eg Godspeed) - when I feel the need to spend a bit more money to stop faster...

It all depends what you want to spend, and the time period you want to spend it over.

BTW, if you do upgrade, get braded hoses and run on dot5.1 fluid. That's my next task, when I get a free weekend.

I would like 4 pots but I've been told that my wheels (17 " Kahns) won't be compatible with them? Is this true?

See the above thread to check your wheels for comatability. It's only an estimate, but cheaper than spending money on brakes you can't use!
