Default Godspeed 4 pot big brake kit with Prodrive GT1 wheels

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has fitted the Godspeed 4 pot big brake 335mm kit with Prodrive GT1 wheels? I put it all on over the weekend for a test fit and only had about 4mm clearance between the wheel and caliper. Stock is 7mm clearance on mine.
I called Godspeed and Ian said it should be ok but keep an eye on it. Ideally 5mm and above is recommended but 4mm should be ok.

Basically just curious if anyone else is running this setup.

Wheel spacers are not an option unfortunately as this is on a wagon. Tyres are already very close to the wheel arches so I couldn't go any wider if I wanted to.

Thanks,
Rob

HI Rob
You spoke to Ben about this as I've been away , 4mm is bags of room for brake clearance , we've run then as close as 1.5mm in the past , allowing for wheel and bearing flex this is about the limit , yours with 4mm will give you no issues at all
Cheers Ian

my apologies.. I thought it was yourself Ian.

I just wanted to be 100%. The wheels have just been freshly refurbished at quite an expense so I'm sure you can understand I don't wish to damage them.

Thanks,
Rob

I run about 1.5 mm clearence on WRX PRO (standard Subaru) 4 pots with standard 16 inch Hawkeye R Sport alloys.

Caused a twitchy bum moment when the wheels went on for the first time - but all ok - better than the brown trouser moments with the standard brakes whilst towing a large two berth caravan - which thankfully I no longer do !

If the wheels clear, they clear. Doesn't matter how much by. I had AP 4 Pots on my WRX with WRX wheels and 3mm spaces. A paper width between wheel and caliper. Never caused an issue in 60k.

I have prodrive gt1s with oem brembos and would say that the clearance is about the same. They are close to the caliper where the spokes come out the hub.
