I bought new discs probably about 3 months before I took the car off the road. They have been on the shelf in the garage for probably 6 months now (off the car) and have a covering of rust. Is it safe to just clean off the rust and use or should I stump up and get new discs?

Get them on it as long as its surface rust it'll be fine.

good time to paint the bells and parts the pads wont be touching, stops them going as rusty once on the car.

they will be fine. a bit of braking will scrub them off and they will be all shiny again.

cheers all. didn't fancy having to fork out for new discs (will get new pads obv). ill give them a light brush to get rid of surface rust and then put them back on.
