got a powertec induction for £30 delivered, bolts to the maf and will alloy you to run a fmic

Hmm, sounds good. But I am new to all this. What is the maf and a fmic???

MAF is the Mass Air Flow sensor, and induction kits are a sure-fire way to kill them, leading to lean running, DET and meltdown VTA dump valves will ruin the smooth running of the car and possibly give reliability issues. Spend your money elsewhere on handling products to make the car faster, and do lots of research before spunking cash on power mods which might ruin your car. FMIC is a Front Mount InterCooler, which would give better induction cooling allowing higher boost. Would be part of a collection of products needed for a serious performance upgrade. Again, do your research and don't do anything until you know it's the right choice.

what he said is correct, however all mods need remapping and it would depend on what power you wanted to end up with as a standard airbox will have limitations, and you cannot run a fmic with one
