Type RA Lump
Well hope u guys and girls maybe able 2 help. A close friend of mine (who is not very computer literate hence why im doing this) took his car 2 a garage in Chelmsford 2 have a new clutch fitted. After the garage had done this they took it for a test drive and blew it up. Piston thru the block jobby so the whole lot is fooked. Now u would expect the garage 2 sort it out for free as it was in there hands when it happened. My mate and the garage owner struck a deal 2 rebuild it with forged parts and the garage wouldnt charge anything for the labour. The garage has come back with a price of £2700. Which seams like alot of money? Or is this a fair price? If it was me i would be down there kicking off but my mate now just wants 2 get the car out of his garage and sort it himself. So im wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a new rebuilt/sound engine? I think he will consider anything at the minute 2 get the car back on the road.
If u have, or know of anything kicking about please call Matt on 07759289115, or via the forum or @ stuart.bones@hotmail.com (thats me and i can pass the message on)
Any help will be greatly appriciated.
Cheers Stu

In my opinion, the engine is only as good as the person that builds it. You can spend as much as you like on forged parts, but if it isn't built properly and the relevant parts replaced, it's not going to last. Good engine building is an art, like plastering, both of which take many years to master! For a good rebuild you are looking at 2.5k upwards!API or Rodger Clarke and you can't go wrong!
