Prodrive Back Box wanted please.

I intend to go to Donnington on the 5th March and the Northern Meet 2 which would be ideal opportunities to do the deal.

Otis.

My dealer is giving it the "....only Subaru approved parts....." line. IM Warranty Dept have also said a big no to anything else. Better than the twin pea shooters....er...is it?

Otis,

I've recently gone down the Prodrive Backbox route and I am very happy with the results. Not as loud as a Scoobysport but much more character than the twin peashooter and is a bit of a screamer at high revs. Now I've got one I would personally place a replacement exhust system as a must-have purchase for any Scoob - it simply increases the grin factor when "giving-it-some". However, if you want loud then go for Scoobysport - you won't be disappointed!

The bottom line is that if you are spending a decent amount of time over 5K revs then IMHO you gotta have a new BB, whether it's Scoobysport, Prodrive, whatever.

Hope you get one soon,

Andy

My local dealer will happily fit a SS backbox and says it will not effect the warranty. Hope tp get it done next month.

Any exhaust you buy from anywhere will come with it's own warranty, unless you buy second-hand, sothe fact Subaru won't cover it isn't a reason not to get one.
A lot now come with life-time warranties too.
Ignore IM, get the exhaust you really want!

Stef,

Sorry Stef my first posting was perhaps not clear. IM and my dealer have said a bacbox change WILL affect the warranty of the car and not just the exhaust. I knew I would lose the cover on the exhaust but it was the possible loss of cover with any engine related failures that put me off anything other than the Prodrive box. The spirit of IM's response was along the lines of the implications of a non approved backbox would have to be considered with any warranty claim.

Hello Rob.

Good to hear from you again. The Prodrive box is great when the turbo spools up. It's a nice swirling turbo noise screaming through the box..... nice!

Even the scoobysport item can't achieve that noise.

NeilR

Still, the scoobysport item is deeper, louder and more soul stirring.
And there's the small matter of the small pwer increase that the Scoobysport item *does* give. *dyno tested*
