Do you know it's the MAF? When my RB5 started hunting on idle it was the O2 sensor. I'd get it check on a Select Monitor before shelling out cash.

If the Dealer gets the sale on the sensor part, they should check it over for you FOC.

Dodgy MAF may or may not cause hunting at idle and may or may not report a fault code on DeltaDash/Select Monitor. I've seen plenty of MAF's which are shagged and bad idling with no fault code reported. I *think* the trick is to unplug the MAF whilst it's idling and if it's no different, it is probably not the MAF.

You can buy just the sensor now (without the housing) for about £80 (but get down to LH this month as they won't be a Subaru dealer after that! )

Other causes of bad idling are as the man said, O2 sensor, air leaks, blocked injectors, dodgy fuel pump, coil etc.etc.

From the workshop manual:

Hope it helps

Matt
