Which model is best to tune/modify to get as close to 450-500 bhp without changing gearbox, internals etc. a Blobeye uk wrx/sti or a Blobeye jdm wrx/sti?

Not nessercerily chasing big numbers just want my new car to be and feel as quick as my current classic which has around the 350/350 mark, and by going by previous threads the general feeling seems to be that I would need around 100bhp more in a newage for it to be and feel as quick as my classic or am I wrong.
well I had a classic which I built my self and that was a 2.5 forged running 454 bhp and 462 torque @ 1.5 bar with 6 speed dccd box and on and on, now I own a blob wrx sti with prodrive pack and can say im more than happy with it but that might be because its my weekend car and only used now and again.
My classic was great spec but my blob is just a nicer drive that feels more planted at speed and handles great too but that might be to do with the prodrive set up and springs fitted
any car that you drive no matter how much bhp its putting out after time will feel like you need more horses and so on thats how it is
think some people think the newage is slower as its more comfy and dose not feel as fast and raw as a classic but im sure they are very close indeed
hope this helps

My hawkeye is running 380BHP and after several days of daily use even that starts to feel sluggish.
Now its mainly used for weekend blasts it feels fast. But thats partly because my daily drive is a pug 106 1124cc monster.
The Blobeye in the pic on the left is long dead after my excursion off a bridge in it.
May it rest in parts.

The irony is that I often have nore fun in the Pug than I do driving the Impreza because it is much easier to dry the Pug on the limit of its ability.
I can never drive the Impreza on the limit because its simply got too much to give.

I agree with dan w, on any form of public road my classic is just too fast to drive on the limit. At the speeds attainable during cornering in the classic if the slightest thing went wrong or someone was too far over, (or a large vehicle, combine harvester etc) it is pretty much game over...
On track where you really can take it to the limits and beyond and not worry too much about other traffic etc it is a different story.

Glanza, the amount of people I try and explain that to and they just don't get it, they think it's easy to drive a fast 4wd quickly, but most of the time i'm not even giving 25% of what it's capable of.
And yes you can have more fun in a **** box 1.4 rover.

Totally agree, if I gave what my car was capable of on the road, I would kill myself, someone else, or loose my licence within 5 minutes.
I have to say I enjoy taking it out on the twisties etc, but i dont take it to anywhere near its limits, I have driven it to its limits on the road once, never again.

I totally agree with the posts above,I once gave my Scooby a right battering down the A470 at about 130mph good fun but spent the next month waiting for the letter to pop thro the letter box from the speed camera I might have missed, just wasn't worth the adrenalin rush, thank god it never came I now drive normally happy knowing that the scoob can do the bizz if required.
I've had my previous Impreza at 350, 400 and 500bhp and it was the best at 350bhp.
Having 500bhp is great for pub talk and to say my car has xxx bhp but I can assure you that you're constantly waiting for the next problem or you're listening for every possible problem.
A newage at 350bhp is just as fast as a classic at similar bhp, in standard remapped form the newage doesn't feel as raw but you'll be going just as fast.
The newage models especially the twin scrolls make the power effortlessly, you'll be surprised in the difference to a classic.
The best power level is around 350bhp where you retain the reliability and driving experience, take it from someone who's been there and worn the T shirt.

Having owned a stadard JDM WRX Classic, Bugeye Sti UK PPP and my current car a Bugeye WRX JDM with Sti bits, (did have) CDB etc @ 380 before problems started - I can say that the 380 was the best performance for me anyway. Going down a Blob Sti engine route soon
not sure what the final map will be yet.

I nearly caught the BHP fever when I had my first Impreza but by reading and listening to other people’s trials and tribulations trying to run high horsepower reliably and inexpensively that I came to the conclusion that I just wasn’t going to pursue high figures.
From what I can make of things the safe limit for a Subaru engine is 400BHP maximum. Beyond that you are into a world of inexact science and heavy expense which in my humble opinion takes the fun out of things.
There needs to be a balance between performance and reliability and I think that 350-400 has to be it. Some might agree, others will not.
I guess we have to accept that all engines have their limits but let’s be honest, anything above 300 is satisfying enough. But any powerful car can leave you wanting if it is driven every day.
If you are looking for more than 400BHP, I personally think other cars are worth looking at.
But, this is just what I have concluded through reading, and listening to what others have put themselves through. I certainly don’t profess to be an expert on things.

Totally agree with many of the above posts! I had a bug sti previously and even though it was fast enough I thought of doing a few mods to but didn't due to the scoob I have now.
Currently got a JDM T20 and okay its a different type of car altogether!! Its got 345bhp and there is no way in hell would I be trying to get any more ponies out of her, simply being that its easily quick enough for me and I just wouldn't be able to drive her to the limits on our roads and because I haven't got the ***** to drive her to her limits lol.
Anywhere between 300-400bhp is easily enough bhp in my eyes for any car on our roads. Its enough to have your fun out of it, keep it reasonably reliable and plenty of go if you need to pass a tractor at some point

I went from a 480BHP classic type R to a UK Newage STI, As already said with big power your always waiting for it to break which takes some of the fun out of driving it
I'm looking to get 380-400 in my current car (Will be going SC billet turbo), which should be plenty. I went for a UK car purely for the burble. I'll be upgrading most of the spec anyways so the little extra toys on a JDM won't really matter or I can live without them. I had equal length headers on the type R and really missed the burble. I picked up my car for a bargain (My wheels and brakes are worth more than what I paid for the car!!!) off gumtree from someone in cardiff. Worth keeping an eye on there
