Default Mostly this weekend..........

...........I have been cleaning my Intercooler.

Read a thread on SIDC about cleaning the IC. So, took it off on Saturday, cleaned it out with some alcohol and meths. Poured a load in, sloshed it about and let it drain.

Took the opportunity to clean the back of the engine, gearbox and starter.

The fluid that came out was pretty sh*tty. All the oil deposits and dust. Left it over night to evapourate.

Putting it back together , not to bad. The Y pipe was a bit of a pain but some hot water in a bucket sorted that out.

Job done, hopefully some better cooling for the Turbo

Sorry, can't find it now. He never really said how, just did it.

Anyway, take the I/C off. Pour some alcohol, pertrol or meths into the DV or big hose hole and slosh it about for a while. NO SMOKING. Pour it into a container to se the results, quite sh*tty. Did it a couple of times until the petrol, meths was clean.

Anyway, then took off the Y-pipe and left it over night to dry and evapourate.

Job Done he Y pipe was a pig to get back on but warmed it up with some hot water and it slide back on.
No problems after that.

For a newage you'll need 10 and 12 mm spanners/sockets. Phillips screwdriver for the hoses.

Hope this helps.

Used meths initially, went from purple to brown urrgh, then used petrol. The petrol was less "oily" and helped evapourate the meths residue.
