Welcome butty to the Wales bit.

As a worst case it could be the turbo is on it's way out.

But what mileage is the car?
Is it like it on start up or when warm?
Service history?
Any mods?

What colour smoke?
White? Could be just the cold winter atmosphere making it look bad,or worst case head gasket

Cold weather defiantly makes the exhaust fumes more noticeable with the white smoke so I would guess it is just that. Leaking head gasket can easily be ruled out with a sniff test or compression check

For decent Subaru specific garages you have a few.

Merthyr - Indigo GT
Cardiff - Three Arches
Risca/Pontypool - Ace
Or the stealers in Bridgend or Crickhowell.

The stealers (Dealers) are fine if the car is in warranty but save money and travel to a specialist independent like Three Arches in Cardiff or Indigo GT in Merthyr if not.

Nathaniel in Bridgend are relatively new and I would question their experience levels.

The important thing is does the smoke clear quick or linger around. If it clears quickly then nothing to worry about but can't harm to get it looked at. Think three arches would be your best bet they know what their doing. Welcome by the way

I'll be at Three Arches Saturday morning getting an MOT done. Dean, top bloke, will be there if you can get in.

300bhp on a WRX 2.0 is bout the limit as the box and clutch will start to feel the strain but is just about achievable with a decent panel filter, better fuel pump, exhaust, injectors and a re-map.

Pop along to the meeting if you have time and we'll help you out with spending your money

The Blobeye cars where 225 BHP, so with just a filter, some mileage under it's belt and a decent exhaust it could be about right.

But does it have the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP)? Check for blue hoses in the engine bay on the Top Mount as the easiest spot or a "WR Sport" exhaust tip. It may have a sticker in the Service Book or on the drivers door pillar.

Hope this helps
