Default Tein Coilovers too hard, what next ?

Hi Folk, Im finding the Tein Coil Overs on my Type R vs 6 far too hard for the bumpy pot hole lanes of Norfolk. (they were on it when i bought it)
Traction is terrible as the car keeps skipping and loosing traction on every bump, making progress difficult.
I have all settings on Soft (Turning top Clicks all the way anti clock wise)
These would be fantastic on a track !!!

Its the springs that are so stiff, if i sit on the front wing the suspension dosent move !! lol ! and im about 16 stone !

So not sure where to go from here, id put stock sti suspension back on, but i like the adjustable height the coil overs provide.

All i need is someone whos bought some coil overs that are not hard enough !

what spring rates are you running,if they are too stiff why not just get some softer springs?

You need to really see if there is a code printed on one of the springs. The I.d in mm, length and rate should be on them. I have 6kg/mmF 5kg/mmR on my Hawk and despite being a lot stiffer than the 4/3.75 O.E. combination they feel more complient and nicer on bumpy Manx roads. ( The Romans never got here to teach the daft Manx how to build roads).

If you are full soft and it's still rock hard I'd hate to think what you're running.....

The chances are they will be Super Street coil overs with the additional top mounts, and it definitely sounds like the spring rates are too stiff as those kits are normally spot on.

What's your ride height like? You might want to try dropping the ride height a bit as that releases some tension on the spring which will soften it a bit. Its hard to tell on that picture but it does seem to be wound right up.

PM sent but if anyone else is interested then the kit is £769 delivered with free rear extenders. If you want to go for a rear anti roll bar at the same time (a very popular handling upgrade) then the coilover kit, rear Whiteline arb, extenders and carriage is £809, full price £954
