I did hear it was about 2 years but my mate has got teins on his scooby and they have been on there for over 5 years now and only in the last week he has started to get a knock fron the back left shock, money well spent i think because they have proven them self over and over on the lots of trackdays.
Mine have been on the car for about 5 years (60K miles).
Today I jacked up the front of the car only to find both have broken completely off at the top mounts. I've no idea how long they've been like that. It's only been the weight of the car holding them in place.
Luckily, a set of HKS coilovers came up for sale on Ebay today for £250, so I bought them on the "buy it now" button.

Yeah they should last about 2yrs or so. Life expectancy of coilovers varies though depending on their usage. If you go to the track often or use them frequently in motosports type conditions you will want to rebuild them more frequently.
As well as if your running slick type tires often, and really putting serious cornering loads on them.
I would say though for normal day to day street use even with ocassional trips to the track, two years is definately reasonable.
