Default new or secondhand

my car is in need of new shocks front and rear.
i have been quoted £375 for a secondhand set off a v5sti of a breakers website. to me they seem expensive.
would i be be better off buying a new budget set? or paying the above price for the sti units? there are shocks on the camskill website at around £480 for the set kayaba AGX i think they are called.
can anyone enlighten me? my car is becoming poorer to drive the longer i leave this fault. thanks all the best.

If you are happy to buy the shox from Camskill them why not contact Bren @ APEX and see if they can still do the coilovers at the group buy price, iirc it was about £486 for a normal set up and you can choose what spring rates you want

check out the thread in the group buy section

No point buying cheap coilovers....... buy cheap buy twice! I was quoted £2000 for 50mm tarmac spec ones from a rally specialist prep co.
2nd hand the same, wasted money no guarantees how long they will last.
The KYB AGX are great on mine cheap too.

Sutton auto factors do mail order 0115 9723400
Mine cost £332 inc delivery 4 all 4dampers, That was part of a SN group buy but I cant see them being massively different on price, certainly cheaper than your quote.
Excellent service too.

Stu.

Done exactly this. The shocks on my STI6 were going so got the coilovers from the group buy. Car is waiting for a wheel alignment on Monday and then I get it back. They worked out about the same price as more standard shocks. I'm expecting the ride to be harder - but I hope not too much.
