Default Genuine ARB diam STI Wide Track 2005

Hi,

What are the diameters of the genuine front and rear anti roll bars?

I need to know to replace the bushings.

They are too rusty to be measured... hopefully where the bushes are the diameter is intact but I would like to not to have to take them off first...

Thanks in advance

How hard are the bushes to change. Do you have to remove the anti roll bars or are the bushes split

They are open, however the risk is for the bolts to snap if they are rusty. Mines are very much.

I took off rear ARB.

Diam seems to be 20mm (with rust and wear it is about that)

But the bushing has "19" written on it.

Is there a rule that bushing should be 1mm less than ARB diameter? What about poly bushing?

Hmm. I was sure the rear on my 06 Hawk was a 19mm bar. It's long gone now, I have a 21/22/23 Whiteline bar on, and that's just been re-powdercoated as the O.E. finish doesn't last long at all.

IMHO, ARBs are an admission of failure by Suspension engineers, and the smaller they are the better. They do little for single bump NVH except wobble your brain and can make slow speed handling on rough ground a real headache...if you let your head get into contact with your side window that is.....

Much rather sort the roll centres and spring rates out to avoid the nasty undamped springs that they are.

I run the Whiteline on the minimum of the settings BTW. I also try to balance the car with ride height changes to keep the Roll axis level.

5mm lift or drop at either end is enough to affect the dynamics quite noticably to me.

Depends if you have coilovers I guess. I digress.....

Back to the OP's question,
No there isn't.
Either wrong part fitted (mismeasured/supplied) or smaller size to compensate for wear.

For the disbelievers (C=MY03; D=MY04 etc.)

The 19mm rubber bushing was also used with the Prodrive 21mm, two-way adjustable, rear bar

A two way adjustable is not the same, as the pivot holes make it behave like a different diameter bar. This could well have been an actual 19mm, but both holes were closer to the bar than stock?

You'd have to confirm that with Peter Cambridge.

Thanks for your help guys!

Dan, I am a bit lost about version of my car (Sorry I am french...)... it is from 2005, but 2005 switched from Blob to hawk, right?

1st registration is from 22 09 2005

Variant GDB (No clue what it means...)

Should I conclude MY is F? (What does MY stands for?)

It's 21mm.
The info with the bar specifies bush 20464FE050

The part number above is for a 20mm bar - *040 for 19mm

GDB = G(impreza)D(Newage Saloon)B(2Ltr high performance Turbo engine - STi)

MY stands for Model Year and along with production date has nothing at all to do with registration dates.
10th character of the VIN will give you the MY ( 5=2005; 6=2006; 7=2007) unless its a JDM ?? RHD or LHD??
Also if it's a Blobeye it will be MY05
If it's a Hawkeye it will be a MY06

Either way it's listed as a 20mm rear bar

JDM???

10th Char on VIN is 5, it is a BlobEyes, RHD.

I ordered a lot of part on "OpposedForces.com". Hope I won't have any issue.

After many hours of pain working on my drive with poors tools, my fr & Rr ARBs are out.

I can confirm they are 20mm of diam.

Now sand blasting & powder coating!

You could look for the Prodrive 21mm bar.

Thank you Don!
@forgedmarco , I had a spare, new RB320 rear ARB that I sold a few years ago as I thought it would be of no use to me, I can't find one right now.
