caution of buying goods from a seller
Hi all,
unfortunately, here we may be going again.
i was contacted by another member yesterday about goods he purchased from a seller on here called "stevetease". he has sent the £250 agreed and the goods haven't turned up. i also left a deposit of £50 for an AVCR with the rest to follow on the 28th of this month.
Obviously hearing from the other member set the old alarm bells ringing and i then phoned the number given by the seller after not getting a reply to a PM yesterday. the number given is for a company in the midlands and obviously, this chap doesnt work there.
i have sent nother PM to the seller basically saying i hope its a misunderstanding and that i also hope he hasn't tried to rip me off, or the other member for that matter or anyone else.
hopefully he will get in touch and it'll all be sorted, but to be honest, it doesnt look good does it. so stevetease, if your out there fella, get in touch, deliver the other chaps goods, and either meet me face to face to complete our transaction or refund the £50.
as i said in the email i sent to you, if you dont, I WILL contact the police and they can go through the paypal transaction for an address.
So far, hopefully, its a misunderstanding, and i'm not saying anything concrete about the seller. but i thought the rest of you should know so that until its resolved, no one else sends any money to this guy.
if he does get in touch i'll delete this post and keep you updated.
cheers

~Did you pay as a GIFT on paypal?
this is the limitation of asking payment to be by GIFT. There is no come back with Paypal on this because a gift , is not a purchase for goods, therefore they cant intervene.
I do ask for gift when selling things as to not get stung by the paypal charges, but i know im honest as they come. Might be worth, when selling things, that the buyer can pay the paypal charges to do it as a proper transaction if they are unsure and then they are covered withh PayPals buyer protect system.
Hope you get it sorted dude. PM the mods, and see if they can see online activity from his username, if hes been online then they can know for sure he is just ignoring you.
Grr, p***ses me off!!!!

this is bang out of order, we need a disputes section and a way for mods to be able to track these people when signing up - its only fair.
having personally been ripped off over £600 last year over forums and stuff not turning up - im all for it. its got to stop.

then thers the bank account details from paypal. opps. seems like you may have ripped the wrong people.
moral of this story is: you never know who your messing with or who the people your messing with may know.
still time and opportunity to do the right thing and if i were you i'd take it

No luck on the computer im afraid. Voter role next I guess.
Why are there not restrictions on here for people selling stuff. Im not talking about posts coz anyone can bump up posts but there should be a combination of time scale ands posts before people can sell or something
