GC8 13:1 Quickrack
I'm upgrading to a newage Spec C quick rack so the 13:1 quick rack from my 1998 STI Type RA is up for sale.
It's in used condition so it's not as precise as a new rack will be but still a worthwhile upgrade.
£250 plus postage ONO

Although they're both 13:1 quick racks, the newage ones are actually quicker.
Don't ask me how they're both still 13:1 but the Type RA is 2 and half turns lock to lock and the newage Spec C is two turns lock to lock.
And yes the the rack I'm selling is defiantly not just an STI rack, I've had one of those fitted as well.

They are both 13:1 quick racks but for some reason a newage quick rack gives 2 turns lock to lock and a classic is 2 and half turns.
No idea why they both called a 13:1 but I've tried 4 different impreza racks including my old UK wagon, classic STI, classic Type RA and also the Newage Spec C which is the one I'm going for because it's faster again.

Newage quick rack is not 2 turns lock to lock, it's 2.25 the same as a classic quick rack.
Remember not all classic STI RA have quick racks, it was an option. Only standard fitment on the limited models.

Yes you are right.
I have never owned a car with new-age quick rack but I have driven one and from memory it was 2 turns, which as you've pointed is not quite accurate.
I know the quick rack was an option on the Type RA's and not all of them came with one but trust me this is a quick rack.
Thanks

Trust me, a newage quick rack is 2.25 turns lock to lock, as is a classic quick rack.
Hence my question as to why you are changing as a newage quick rack will offer no benefit over what you already have.

All the classic ones are the same, the splines on the UJ connection changed on the newage cars to a finer pitch and that certainly looks like the pitch on a classic rack. The position and angle of the hydraulic connections also changed. The drivers side mounting changed on the widetrack and Hawk cars but despite the myths they still fit on non widetrack subframes as I had one fitted on my classic subframe.
