Default Highly modified 2004 Forester STI project.

Please read the advert carefully. This is my pride and joy and has absorbed every penny of my cash over the last 2.5 years of ownership with carefully selected modifications and development of the car. I love this car, but sadly last Tuesday my Subaru main dealership told me they detected very early stages of head gasket failure. The car drove and still does 100% perfectly, although as I don't wish to cause damage to the engine I have not driven it since I got it home that day.

I have already purchased a replacement car so this is now going to be sold to a Subaru breakers either this week or early next week. I have had a price for trade in which reflects some of the money I have invested in this car, but if someone would like to buy this and fix the head gaskets they will get a truly amazing one-off well known car. This car is known in all of the Forester forums and facebook groups and many of the other Subaru groups.

Price to buy is £7k firm, no offers as this reflects my price from the breakers and they will collect hastle free. This price is with the standard FSTI alloys fitted onto the car not the XXR wheels that I may be keeping, with the stereo and tablet now removed, Bluetooth dongle removed & DAMD steering wheel removed, but everything else included. See spec below:

Basic Car:
  • World Rally Blue 2004 SG Forester STI Lux model, current mileage under 71k (Was used daily until HG issue found).
  • Vehicle imported to UK by Torque GT in August 2014.
  • Purchased by me in February 2016 from another enthusiast. Purchased as standard vehicle and all modifications completed in last 2 years. Vehicle passes every MOT with no advisories.
  • Personalised plate now removed and vehicle to be sold on original import plate WH04VHJ.
Body Upgrades:
  • Front STI v-limited STI splitter (modified to fit onto forester bumper)
  • HT Autos Rear Bumper Corner Spats for Subaru Impreza 06-07.

  • Whiteline KLC32 sway bar link assembly for rear of SG Subaru Forester.
  • Alloy wheels original Subaru STI wheels (could really do with a refurbish).
  • MeisterR ZetaCRD+ coilovers for GD/PCD 5x100 Impreza, trial fitting for manufacturer for Forester STI SG9 model.
  • Whiteline KSB590Q rear strut brace including quick release clamps.
  • Whiteline front strut brace assembly to match rear brace. This is a newage Impreza strut brace and fits perfectly. Both ends stripped and powder coated black, main bar polished.
  • Perrin Subaru 6 speed STI short shifter adaptor including Perrin uprated shift linkage polly bushes.
  • Both rear arches professionally rolled (minor inside only) no paint damage to accommodate wheels.

  • Cosworth high flow dry panel air filter for Subaru Forester SG9 STI.
  • TSL Group N backbox & de-resonated centre exhaust pipe for Newage Impreza. Centre pipe made 4” longer to suit Forester platform and rear box modified to have new longer 4” diameter tailpipe professionally stainless welded on with centre hanger re-manufactured to suit Forester. Looks OEM.
  • July 2017 – Map tweak by Andrew Carr and Pole Position for new exhaust system, general increase in performance.
  • Exedy pink box uprated clutch kit for Subaru STI 6 speed gearbox. (Fitted March this year by FB Tuning, 2k miles max)

Stupid mortgage deposit getting in the way of my fun. Sigh.

Good luck with the sale brownpants, I sincerely hope the car goes to a good home and is fixed, not broken into bits.

I keep a fully documented log of the costs and expenditure on my vehicles as I own them. So far in the 2.5 years I have owned this vehicle I have spent:

£10k purchase price
£8,778.75 on upgraded parts and labour for fitting & mapping of upgrade parts.
This figure does not include normal yearly servicing costs at Subaru Main Dealers or MOT costs.

As you can see, I have invested a significant amount into this car in the region of £20k now.

£7k is a bargain, even with the early signs of head gasket failure. lol.

Have you had a quote for the HG repair? This will help to know what the overall purchase cost might be. If not, would any members venture a guess at what that might be likely to cost?

Hi, rather subjective as you'll get a different price wherever you go and if I quote a price local to me it's not going to be of any use or accurate to whoever buys the car. I don't want to give a price only to find out that whoever buys the car is disappointed when they get a different quote. It's best if prospective buyers seek prices themselves to be honest, sorry.

That said, I priced up a fully forged engine build for this car with one of the very well known builders and the end result would mean a total price still less than standard Forester STI models with standard old engines are being advertised for. The price this car is currently advertised for makes the final car very very reasonable.

Please feel free to PM me as I've had Subaru's for 12 years now and know all the names to contact.

Thanks.

Contacted one of my friends with a Forester STI who has only just had his head gaskets done. He had the following done: Removal of engine, removal of heads, new valve stem oil seals fitted to heads, new RCM head gaskets supplied and fitted, removal of pistons and fitting of new piston rings, rebuild and refit and he was changed under £2k for all the work done at a specialists. Obviously there will be cheaper and more expensive quotes for this work, but it's a guideline so please get quotes yourself.

Thanks.

Sorry Alyn, probably didn't write that particularly clearly in my haste, my private plate P7YTT is being removed so it can go onto my new STI next week. The Forester is now back on its original plate WH04VHJ.

Let me know if you want anything else, I can always call you again.

Cheers

Car is now ready for sale or trade to breakers.

XXR wheels removed and original rare FSTI wheels back on the car now (all Bridgestone tyres good), Satnav removed and stereo put back to original (Alpine double din), tablet and ODB dongle removed, DAMD steering wheel removed and replaced with genuine immaculate STI steering wheel, Richbrook gear **** removed and replaced with original STI gear ****. Car also cleaned inside and out.

Everything else listed above in the advert is still on the car, it still starts perfectly and drives without fault.

The car will be going to a breakers this week if nobody buys it.

Thanks for looking.

Boo! Not fancying a garage rebuild!? This is a steal for the money. Shame it's going as it's such a loved car!

You missed Bazil_SW fuel cap holder off the list of mods...

Good luck though. What did you get instead?
