Default 2002 Subaru Impreza STI Prodrive WRC Widebody 540 BHP - **Reduced***

This listing is for a very good friend of mine's car. I have been fortunate enough to see this car develop and transform over the years and it's been a pleasure to have tried to keep up with it lol!

Here I have for sale is my 2002 STI type UK Prodrive in the rare blue/black 08V, which is well known in the Subaru community in the North East of England. 1 of 750 made and only 1 of 100 in this colour with numbers on the drop to around 300 left these are becoming a rare sight on our roads and shows/events and fast becoming the first of a modern classic in years to come, this car is far from standard with the work I've had carried out in the last few years, the car now runs a 2.5 fully forged CDB engine producing around 540bhp on V Power alone, it has a serious amount of torque at (678Nm) and there really isn't much out there on the roads that can keep up with it.
Styling wise it has the ABW WRC arches kit fitted, rear doors are smoothed in and I stuck with the original Prodrive front bumper for the OEM look to the car but with the aggressive wide stance, with mods running all the way through the car from a custom engine bay, interior and exterior parts there really isn't another on the roads like it a true one-off to date, also for a car this age it's in mint condition and turns heads & gathers crowds where ever it goes.
Only looking to sell as I don't use the car and think someone else would benefit and enjoy it, possibly take it to the next level in style looks and performance, as this could really make an awesome track weapon,

Full spec below but any questions just ask and I will be glad to help. The project thread is on Scoobynet here:

Right for the not so good bits which I am being honest about, these issues I would of had done but ATM all the car does is sit in the garage and with other commitments in the way they have not been addressed,

First off there is a knock from one of the rear coilovers. I've not had this looked at so cannot say if it's the shock or top mount making the noise? I know drift works hold lots of parts for these coilovers so sorting this wouldn't be an issue.

Secondly it's got the early signs of the synchro mesh wear going from 4th to 5th on the gear box (common fault) again this is only noticeable when driving very hard and going through the box with split second gear changing, other than that there are no other crunches or bangs and the car will quite happily drive without issue.

Body work has the normal stone chips in the paint at the front, it has a few scuffs and knocks here and there but no major dents or scratches, tiny bit of rust just under the spoiler but on inspection from inside the boot all spoiler bolts to the boot are solid no rust around them at all so looks again like an easy fix.

I am in no rush to sell and have been as honest as I can in its description. Depending on how long this listing runs I may have the chance to keep the car store it and address the issues over time.

Please no tyre kickers no co-pilots, NO SILLY OFFERS! the car can be viewed pretty much anytime during the day by appointment, I will only drive the car for potential buyer and would need the asking price cash in my hands or bank otherwise.

I'd also consider PX and cash my way
Type R, Forester STI 2004/05, S202, Spec C
Something in its standard form untouched

Sale would be cash on collection or bank transfer only

Taking into consideration work needed priced to sell at £12,995

If you’re in the market for unique special car then this is for you.....thanks for looking

Yeah ok, I realise my mistake. Quite shocked that this car hasn't been snapped up but what do I know. Perhaps due to all the customisation it only appeals to a select few but the engine upgrades alone surely make it desirable?

Cheers lads ATM am in talks with a potential buyer for the car, I've had plenty of offers on px etc but nothing that quite ticks the box so far, as for it needing a gearbox and suspension I don't understand how you can know this and not know the car? It's a worn synchro a common fault and breakers sell boxes like this for £1k plus, it's around £600/£1000 fix, as for the knock I've spoke to drift works and my fitter that would be arround a £200 fix at the worse case outcome, yes it could put potential buyers off I understand that but the price is lowered to count for that, both issues can be lived with it, it far from puts the car off the road as a daily you wouldn't notice, they just a few issues to be addressed to make it mint again

Honestly I don't need to hear what I already know, I've looked into sorting these issues out and have stated the prices I've had back to me to address them, it's currently off the roads in winter storage and let's say if it doesn't sell I will look to get it done later in the year, some people are put off so easy yet others will see it's potential and make it there own,

Pointless having this out on a for sale thread imo don't you think? As people do there research and make there own minds up at the end of the day

You still have the cost of dropping the box, breaking it open, sorting out the internals that need to be fixed and then putting it back in. Yes you can live it with it, but its only a matter of time before it will need sorting.

As far as suspension goes, if you don't assume the worst when your buying it then your stupid.

I know its not what you want to hear, but its the reality. Took a long time for bannys to sell that was fully sorted. My advice would be get the box/suspension sorted then try and sell.

If you have a buyer or don't mind waiting then fair play. Just depends how quick you want to sell.
neither problem would put me off the car-your clearly expecting rather a lot for not a lot of money imo- the syncro crunch are a well known problem with the 6 speeds-
more annoying then likely to cause any major damage-plenty of standard power cars suffered the exact same problem,
if your buying a car at this spec a grand here or there is just part of the game.
guarantee it would be a 16-17k car at any of the "specialist " dealers.

It will be superior no doubt, just makes me laugh when people start comparing your car with others! A highly modified type r running a different block and turbo etc is a total different beast! Which had a total different price tag! But yeh gearbox a coilover knocking is a everyday thing you hear with these cars and anyone buying the likes of v7 or the early v8 can kind of expect the synchro, the carbon synchro fix on these boxes is the way forward like the later box have as standard,

Only reason I've not had this looked at is down to other commitments in business, house move renovation and also fancy another project, if I keep it of course it will be mechanical sound 👍🏻 But as it is it very rarely bothers me

blobeye. though i wouldn't recommend it mate... i am looking to replace it, since it is shagged. multiple issues, documented on here.

it would really only be suitable as a project for someone who is extremely keen and knows what they are doing, failing that i think it is only suitable for breaking.

if i can get someone to buy it whole for breaking, that can subsidise a new subbie for me

the steering is unsafe, yes. i am looking to get rid of it. wouldn't recommend it to anyone but an experienced mechanic looking to take on a project, or a breaker.

if i can get a few grand from breaking it, i would be looking to replace it with another scooby (hopefully) though it would be a kick in the nuts to everyday climb into a heavier, slower impreza after owning a spec c... this doesn't look like a step down

are you looking for something to drive? if so, this is not the car for you.

even though i still drive it every day, i would consider this car is busted. main complaint by far is the steering/handling, but lots of other smaller things wrong with it... so only really suitable to fix up as a project, or breaking for parts.

not sure what it is even worth, obviously i don't want to sell my self short, but equally don't want rip anyone off.

if you click on my username, statistics, you can search by posts - the whole drama is there

i would be happy with 4-5k. not sure it is even worth that though...

would actually rather it was broken for parts, for peace of mind.

Why don't you email me some pictures and details of the car, that's a lot of reading and still the issue lies? has the car been crashed in the past? Where did you buy it from?

I was considering this before purchasing my hatch but the issues were putting me off. Purely down to the hassle of having to have them sorted.

I've still got that itch for something with a stupid amount of power and this certainly ticks that box.

I can totally understand where your coming, but i personally wouldn't be put off, I think it's a case of viewing a car weighing up the options and taking it from there,

One of the 2 guys that has viewed it has been back in touch and we could quite possibly be doing a deal if he can shift the car he is selling on.
