removing tar from paintwork
Just had this problem with mine mate. Had tar spots all over the arches and wings. I used Autosmart Tardis and it was awesome stuff. Spray it on and leave it a few minutes and wipe off. Easy to use but stinks. Best stuff around I reckon.

Pop it into a spray bottle and after washing the car spray on the areas with tar. Leave it for a couple/few mins to do it's magic. Then wipe off directly with a microfibre towel. Chuck the towel afterwards as it will stink! Tar gone and then you just either re-wash the car again or hose down thoroughly and wax.
Did my Subaru last week prior to selling and the paintwork was lovely and smooth afterwards. Tar sticks out on silver cars really bad too.

I`ve never noticed how bad tar spots were till I bought a silver car. I finally bought some Tardis after years of being told to and......it`s bloody awesome. Effortless to use with amazing results.
Definately need a good session with some AG and a clay bar, honestly I know people swear by the spray-on stuff but I've seen it used in the past, gone over it with a clay bar and there is still so much grime left on the car!
It really just depends how in depth you want to go, if you just want it to shine or if you want it to truly gleam. A decent detail with a thorough wash, really good going over with a clay bar (a tedious and long process, but very worth it) and some elbow grease, then a polish with some decent product (do not use cutting compounds to polish, use something decent like AG or Meguiars range of polishes) and a wax will see that your car is of show quality, it really is worth the hard work I promise you.
Oh and do not use petrol or WD40, they can and will damage the paintwork and any protective layering on top.
