Sounds a little harsh to me, but then I havent had any body work done for a few years now.
Is it a cash sale, or full receipt job?
Last time I had some work done it was on my Alpine GTA which was fibreglass, 2 doors (both removed), rear bumper and roof for £300 cash, obviously they are treated different to metal body panels so im not sure how the price would differ.
Also I suppose it depends on who you have gone to for the quote, I know of plenty "back street" body shops that I wouldnt touch with a barge pole, im sure they are cheaper but you may for it later with the quality of workmanship.
