Bug-eye bonnet vent
Hello,
I know you guys in the UK love to put these on your cars but no body makes one any more in the states. I'm looking for one that replicates the rally cars and hopefully has a removable cover under neath.
I looked into the ht-auto's one and that one doesn't seem to reach the crease in the bonnet like the wrc cars.
TIA!

Mate - I had one fitted a few years ago (genuine WRC but blanked) on a blobeye WRX not STI.
If I may give you a word of warning - I had a lot of issues with my car when the air temp was hot and on a long drive, basicaly I had a serious loss of power - maybe for 5 minutes, sometimes for an hour, then it would clear and the car would be fine. I had no warning lights and no codes when diagnostic kit was put on the car - basicaly we couldn't find a fault.
About 6 months ago I fitted a performance exhaust and had the car re-mapped. We had to abandon the session because the car was un-mapable, the tuner had to keep retarding the ignition timing to keep it safe. It turned out that my charge temp (out of the intercooler) was well over 120 deg, it should be around 25 deg!!
There was nothing wrong with the intercooler or any problems with the car. I have put a front mount on and it is all fine.
The only reason we can think of is the WRC vent. We THINK that the leading edge of the vent is directing the airflow over the bonnet scoop, so that no or very little air is cooling the intercooler and so causing very high charge temps. Obviously if you are running a front mount, or have the higher STi scoop then you may not experience such a problem.
The choice is yours!!!!

I do have the higher scoop as well as a n-tercooler Nitrous fogger system for intercooler cooling. If I am still having issues I'll swap for a front mount. Thanks for the heads up mate.
No problem - sorry I was a bit rushed when I posted the last reply and didn't answer your question!!
Try looking on Four Star Motorsports: under products - subaru parts - exterior, they only list complete kits, but they may be able to help you and they are your side of the pond in Canada!!
There is another site in Japan that do them and a blanking plate that you can open and close but can't find the site at the mo - will post it if and when I find!!
