Got lots of tiny bits of something on my bonnet that won't wash off, but can be picked off with a fingernail.
Have thought about using the Meguairs Clay bar but heard conflicting reports - would like to hear your good & bad points please.
also - anything else I should look into?

You could also look into the ClearKote clay bar. I've got one and apparently just rub it over the body using some washing fluid as a lubrication.
Haven't had a chance to use it yet though.

When my car was at it's best and i was attending all the shows to build up my trophies, I tried this Meguairs Clay bar and found it was fantastic. Just spray on their fluid which seems to be very waxy water and gently rub the clay bar over with next to no pressure, the stubborn marks that won't polish off do actually come off.
Shame u don't live near Leicester 'cause u could of used mine, I only wash mine about once a fortnight now..................kind of lost interest in keeping her clean.
it is good stuff though, well worth buying

Went and bought one of these on Sunday after reading about it on various websites. At the time I wasn't 100% sure of what it was, or indeed what to use it for, but as I was buying just about every other Meg product ever made, I thought I might aswell get it.
My car is just 12 months old and has been well looked after as far as cleaning goes, so when actually got around to reading the box for the Clay bar, T thought I'd wasted my money. Nevertheless out I went to the motor, picked a panel at random (rear 3/4 and c pillar) thoroughly cleaned it, and ran my fingers over the 'clean' paintwork. It generally felt clean, okay, there was a tiny amount of gritty texture, but nothing to write home about, or so I thought. So, it got a spray with the lubricant and a rub with the clay bar, even though I couldn't see the point (I had nothing better to do, btw)
5 minutes later I was standing there caressing the now glass like bodywork, shouted the wife to 'come and have a strok'
and on the blower to a couple of mates.
Gobsmacked.
The paint wasn't this smooth when it left the factory.
If you value your car's appearance enough to spend an hour or two every week washing & waxing (Meguiar's 3 stage, anybody?) then you'll love the results that the clay bar gives.

Right - I'm sold - I'm buying one!
used the meguairs 3 step last weekend, wasn't overly impressed with the paint cleaner, bonnet seems discoloued in places but other than that very happy - apart from the stubborn specks mentioned above.
Anywhere online I can buy one for delivery tomorrow?
