Default The ICC Cricket World Cup Thread

Well, here we go again.

What a winter it's been for us, winning the Ashes, smashing records all over the place and then getting a kicking when we put our pyjamas on

We have players in form, Bopara back into the fold and Graham Swann can drive again (best excuse ever for drink driving )

We're also, lets not forget, world champions in the briefest form of the game...T20.

Saying all that though.... Mark Waugh's spouting off about us probably not making the quarter's. Well if we struggle to beat Canada then he may have a point.

It will be interesting to see the West Indies perform, they only seem to like short games nowadays and even then only when they can be bothered.

India will be a threat on home soil, never write off the convicts and South Africa will once again do their best to avoid making the finals (the 2003 Donald v Klusener run out for instance).

I expect Ceylon will be a major force, probably finalists. Pakistan don't deserve it (the team not the poor fans who stick by them) but they probably feel ahrd done by as this should have been "their" world cup if it wasn't for the nutters shooting up the hotel

NZ have a poor run of form but you wouldn't would you

I'm just looking forward to the outcome of the Ireland v Holland game I reckon Ireland will make the quarter's - you read it here first

Looking at the England warm up game there were a few players playing at odd numbers and a few who really shouldn't have been there imo, Bell, Colly, Wright.

Looks a bit of a mess to me, we should have used the 7 games in Aus to test our one day theories. KP announced he'd be opening during the WC, inspired decision or last throw of the one day dice ??

My money would be on SA or IND

We'll see about SA

KP going well against PAK this morning, maybe the opener slot was inspired because Straussy has hit a wall recently, another low score this morning. Lets see if Wright can do any better today......

So, it looks like the names on the trophy already doesn't it.

Bangladesh didn't do badly but Sehwag was amazing.

You've got to give it to the Dutch, they're not doing badly so far

They have about as many South Africans as we do

Only three teams have gone on to lose a match after scoring more than 287, it's not looking good for us is it

I read about this in the Aussie press yesterday the Sydney Telegraph reported he took aim with his bat after watching a replay of the run out as he walked back into the dressing room, although Aussie management said he threw his box into his kit bag which then bounced up onto the screen damaging a corner.

Probably a couple of pixels killed in the incident, ps lewis style, that said there was that clip on youtube of a guy sucessfully fixing dead pixels with a baseball bat, maybe Punter had seen that was only trying to fix it
