Frank Lampard on BBC News :

"Michael Owen saw the replay and people back home also said it definitely wasn't a foul. If that had gone in, we would have been through to the next stage."
No it would not have meant that! In what minutes of the match did France beat England last Sunday?

Oh, and yes, people decided after seeing the replay it wasn't a foul. Forgive me, but did the referee have the benefit of a replay?

Do footballers have brains?

But I decided before the replay and I was not on the pitch where the ref was!!

Oh but he wasn't in a good position was he.

The replay merely reaffirmed my original decision.

Did anybody notice when the ref didn't give England a certain freekick and let play go on, only for a Portugese player to be fouled within seconds and he let play go on then too?

It was a definate attempt to redress his first mistake but both tackles were certain fouls.

Anyway..........

Make your mind up from this.

Terry's arm is over the keepers = foul

Its only a foul if Terry did it deliberately and IF the keeper would have had a chance to catch the ball if Terry wasn't there - he could have done, by knocking Campbell over, it was a goal simple as that.

Sunday League to the world cup, in a situation like that the decision always goes the keepers way.

I don't think it was intentional from Terry, but I also don't think the referee had it in for England and deliberately disallowed the goal. More like he saw what is in the pictures above and made his decision. Unlucky and disappointing but all the finger pointing is pointless.

The point is, the disallowed goal did not LOSE England the game. They still could have won it in extra time, or if they'd worked a bit harder and played better for the preceding 88 minutes.

Yes, it was a questionable decision, but **** happens.

What is inexcusable is that players like Gerrard are knackered after 75 minutes ... in contrast, Ronaldo did not stop running all bloody night and STILL had plenty left in the tank. England's fitness levels were very poor.

You can't lay the lack of fitness at Sven's door - it would be impossible for him to get the players in shape in 3-4 weeks. He is basically taking what the clubs give him in terms of player fitness. I think what was obvious was that the Man U players were very fit, and some of the others weren't. Scholes wasn't brought off because he was knackered, he was just cr@p.
Becks' performances have really deteriorated for England since he went to Real. He used to run around like C. Ronaldo but he was dead on his feet last night.
