World Cup 2018
I thought i'd start a thread for the World Cup. I'm counting down to next month already as I love the WC not for England playing but just for the wall to wall football for a month
But what will make the headlines, the football or the hooliganism with it being in Russia? There is no question there will be violence and i'm gobsmacked Fifa have even allowed them to host the premiere football competition.
Hopefully there will be better headlines like who comes out as the competition's surprise team and upsets a few of the big teams and who the next star player will be who emerges from this Summer.

Like you I love the wall to wall footy
But on this occasion I am really looking forward to seeing how ENG get on, I like what Southgate is doing in respect to selecting the starting XI, he's not following every previous ENG manager and picking the team based on who they play for or how famous they are, he's trying to pick a team that can gel together and act as a team rather than a group of individuals.
I believe I've seen positive signs of late but don't want to get ahead of myself
I just can't see this being as shambolic as the previous WC and Euro's, not saying we'll win it but we should be pushing on now.
My only concern is Harry Kane looks shattered again just as he did prior to the Euro's but at least we have Vardy who fits into what Southgate is trying to achieve nicely.
Sit's back and waits to be slaughtered

i'd like to think you are right but i've been let down so many times in the big games that you just give up any hope of England actually doing well when it counts!
I agree the teams he picks are much better although I will never understand how Henderson ever gets in the England team he's ****!

Am i the only one to have found the 2 friendlies to have been absolutely dire? If that's all the team can manage they don't deserve to get out the group stages of the WC
Hoddle sits there saying what a good performance it's been no it ******* hasn't it's been ****. No flair, no pace going forward no sign of attacking football whatsoever. Yes Rashford's goal was good but it was a long shot that came off. The majority of the players play for the top premiership teams yet they don't play the same for England like they do for their clubs. That's down to the manager and style of football in my opinion and comes back to the argument of English managers being crap and lacking attacking flair compared to their European counterparts.

question is not will there be violence, its will anyone die or not?
and i don't mean that in a jokey fashion either, im expecting serious serious trouble and fifa have no one to blame but themselves for allowing such a corrupt bidding process to stand.

I've being saying it since the trouble at the Euros was just a hint of what was to come at the WC. I think it's going to be the worst there's been at a major tournament, I just hope i'm wrong.
