Default yes or no? is it worth it?

i have just brought a 2004 sti ppp and want to start a few minor mods, i have already got sports cat and backbox fitted(prodrive) and some new drilled grooved discs.
I have always joined forums for the various cars i have owned because of the invaluable advice, so heres the question i am thinking of buying a hks super bov i know all they do is make a noise and offer no performance benefiit.
but on searching threads in the forum there is differing opinion on dump valves so will it damage/upset running of my car or not?

Welcome .... did you buy the car to impress the teenagers at MacDonalds on a Friday night?

If you didn't then ignore the chavvie, kiddie, pathetic, dump valve ........ in fact keep it standard and enjoy rock solid reliability and rock solid resale values.

Drilled AND slotted?!

Neither are much use unless your car sees track work anyway.

Unless it is to impress 15 y/o chicks outside of McDonalds of course.

Grooved are good on the discs, drilled are not unless you want stress fractures in your discs?

or if you want one get one ! and keep the standard one to re-fit when you want to sell, thats what ive done, this is an age old debate and as far as i can see its 50/50 if you like them you get one pal !

if you wanted a car for resale value you should have bought a vw golf

your choice mate to be honnest, if you like the sound then go for it, there is no performance to be had out of them though. at leaset your going for the dearer end of the scale rather than the cheaper ebay jobbies or bailey..

but having said the above, be warned that they can cause issues such as irratic idle, flat spots, poor fuel consumption... but not on every car so you may get lucky.

i removed because of how much fuel it drank and lost a bit of boost when was fitted (only boosted to 16-18psi) now with the recur standered back on pulls like a train at 22psi end of day its up to you mate they can cause boost spikes which is a bit of a pain in the asre.

they do sound the **** defo best dv on market just makesure its a genuine 1 as there is a lot of cowboys out there that sell cheaper copys which are shhhhite best of luck fella

Spend the bucks and get a good dual-port one if you need to buy one. Adjust the setting to suit.

I run mine on 'hard' which is pretty much all re-circ but when on full-boost get some atmosphere sound too.

I didn't find it, it was pointed out to me but I thought what the hell - it would be interesting to see if we can find a thread where he asks about WRC sticker kits and a roof scoop.
