Just intrigued really, can she disolve the government and take control. I would like to think that Charlie will become king and get rid of all politicians !!!!!!!!
In theory yes, however there were some changes to the law quite a long time ago which took this power away from the King / Queen, but if they really wanted to they could but it would be messy. But its never going to happen sorry!

234 (RMS?) if you really want to be pedantic Although my imported French electric is currently running at 244, but it's night time, and it's nuclear glow in the dark electric.

Id trust either Liz or Charles above this shower of b*stards any day.
In fairness i do like Liz, charles on the other hand cheated on his wife and now want to marrry a horse...thinking about it...Yes, still preferable to Brown and his cronies
She has the power to prorogue Parliament and she is the head of the Armed Forces. Practically speaking she is unlikely to do that of course unless everything fell apart. She uses that prorogue power at the beginning and end of a Parliament.

alot of the Queens powers a "proxied" by the government of the day by using the "The Royal Prerogative"
for example, it was used to take us to war in Iraq, without a vote in parliament
surely the point is, it doesn't matter whether she agrees or not, the govt of the day can use Royal Perogative to do quite alot of "stuff" without recourse to parliament
in fairness I think the Queen does an admirable job of staying out of politics -- not that i,m a big fan of "Royalty" -- in it's constitional term
[pedant] Is that for laws regarding climbing? All the others need Royal assent [/pedant]
Of course, the Queen is seen as benign because she does not get involved in politics, but if the Royals were given real power, then obviously that would change and I would imagine the situation would be considerably worse than under an (albeit a dodgy way) elected body.
